While I understand the frustration with overwhelming numbers of newcomers moving into the Red States, I must acknowledge that green mariner is 100 percent correct. This is America and we have freedom of movement. They have the right to move wherever they want just as we all do. This does not mean people will welcome them with open arms but there is no legal means to stop people from moving. Attempts to do so would be illegal and contrary to America values.
What will stop them however is the market, as they drive up real estate cost the ability for others to move here too will diminish as the cost becomes too much for them. Unfortunately this will hurt our own young people too who will struggle to buy houses here. The only economic winners will be those who owned real estate before the price run up.

Huntsville is the "largest" city in Alabama the same way Jacksonville is the "largest" city in Florida.

When they cant sell their home in Ca,Ny,Il etc. the migration will stop. By and large the people relocating are not wealthy enough to maintain two homes. I also wonder how many will stay long term?

People should also have a right to protect their way of life. It’s one thing when these transplants come in and assimilate and become a valuable and productive member of a community. It’s another when they come in and want to change everything to suit their own needs. Give me your address. I’m moving in. Most likely I will like your home but I will need to make some changes to better suit my needs and decorating style.

Good question. We live in Monroe County here in Tennessee. Every year we see people who moved here from 'up North' move back to be closer to kids and grandkids.
Of course there are more moving in than are moving out.

I live 60 miles NNW of Downtown Charlotte in the mountains south of Morganton. Bought a 1600 sq ft manufactured on 5 acres for $50,000 in 2016 when I left San Diego. In 2020 a 950 sq ft Manu in much better shape sold for $100k, now we have a single wide trailer listed for $150k, you can search 4710 Cindy ridge 28655 to see that. I paid my place off in January after 5 years, it has recently appraised as is at $182k.

I relocated to Mooresville a year ago so I’m in the area. My territory for work includes all of north Charlotte area Hickory over to Salisbury down to Huntersville Over to Kannapolis. Very familiar with the area.
