Based on an opinion piece? What is missing is that it is really besides the point - legal gun ownership is a constitutional right. The biggest issue is not enforcing the laws that exist - legal gun owners are not the issue.
Well we do arrest people; we just don't charge them as felons, try them or hold them pending trial. That way, it's a free-fire zone for the benefit of the lawless. Where is Wyatt Earp?
Without even watching the video, I'll propose the following experiment in critical thinking:
When a bad person is doing bad things and the community wants that person to be stopped, they call the police. Why? What exactly do the police bring to the scenario that offers the possibility that they can stop a bad person from doing bad things? It isn't "represent the law" because criminals don't GAFF about laws. It isn't "represent authority" because again, criminals don't GAFF about that.
So when you call the cops to save you, what about them represents that salvation?
Think on it for a second, and you affirm the entire concept of "good guy with gun" because THAT IS WHY YOU CALL THE POLICE. They are allegedly the "good guys" and they bring guns. They tell bad person to stop, or else. And what is exactly is on the other end of that "or else?" A gun. That's what. And even more, the state sanctioned authority, by virtue of the state's monopoly on force and violence, to use that gun to make bad people stop doing bad things.
If you dismiss the notion of the citizen being "allowed" to be a good guy with a gun, then you deny the concept of individual liberty. We cannot defend ourselves, we can only hope and wait to see if Master will send some thugs to maybe or maybe not defend us. Only Master can have guns, only Master can tell bad people to stop and if we tell bad people to stop, then we become bad guys ourselves and now Master is angry.
For like 99% of this country, Master doesn't even need to threaten you. You've enslaved yourselves in your mind so thoroughly that I honestly think if Master told you that you were free to do as you please, you'd get on your knees and beg them to have your chains back.
The odds are always against a good guy with a guy as there are more people that do harm with a guy.
No excuse for homeowners to have specific guys especially assault weapons. Very unfortunate.
No one indicated there are not any success stories, posting anecdotes doesn't make a case. Plenty of times even armed individuals couldn't make a difference not to mention all the misuse of guns.
The Dayton shooting showed that a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun in 30 seconds.
After 9 people were killed.
All the pro gun narratives and solutions are about mitigation of a body count so they can keep their toys that they are addicted to.
If no other country has this problem and no other country has more guns than citizens, address the actual cause.
And all the anti gun narrative is about keeping guns in the hands of criminals while denying the natural born right of citizens to protect themselves. It’s very authoritarian of the democrats and left to want to take everyone’s gun away. Except the criminals will still find guns.
I am for moderate gun control like background checks and well written red flag laws. Anything beyond that not only violates the constitution but more importantly puts honest people at a disadvantage to the criminal elements.
Basically, the left can take their authoritarianism and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. I have the right to protect myself and family from criminals and authoritarian governments.
