According to Obama's research council there are between 500,000 and 3 million defensive gun uses yearly.

This study was for Obama, an anti-gun president. He did not release it to the public since it came out opposite to his politics.

I am constantly baffled by the spread. Is it a half million or 3 million? That is a rather LARGE margin of error for a study.

Most defensive gun uses aren’t reported, so it’s rather difficult to pinpoint a number. I’ve personally used a firearm defensively twice. Neither time involved pulling the trigger, and neither time involved police interaction.

I would like to recognize and honor any citizen on here, that has ever used a firearm, to defend themselves from the govt or an agent of the govt. Speak up and get recognized! You have earned it, you are the definition of a Patriot.

Im not so interested in hearing about using a gun to defend oneself from another citizen though, that is irrelevant to the 2nd Amendment, its purpose was so citizens could defend themselves from the govt, or an agent of the govt.

Hi, my name is Randy Weaver. My son and wife were killed by federal agents. My unarmed wife by the way, was holding an infant when her skull got ventilated by a sniper. I got hit with a couple of weapons charges, but at least I got $3.1 million in compensation.

Hmmm, so the value of a son and wife is at $3M...interesting.

I bet those govt agents feel really tough after this too!

The original weapons charge they used for an excuse was bogus too.

Yea, the weapons charges had something to do with a couple of shotguns whose barrels were just an eensy bit short, which I heard made them extra super scary and dangerous. Hell I was prepared to go to court about that, but the feds couldn't even get my court date correct so it's no wonder I never showed up! I guess when you miss a federal court date, your family needs to be executed. I think that's a bit over the top.

I won't even go into the story about David Koresh, we all know that name. Now Ulises Valladares on the other hand, I wish his name was better known.

Koresh was going to the same gun range as the FBI and left the compound for a run most mornings. They could have arrested when he was out and about. But they wanted to make a point and innocent people died.

Ulises Valladares, 47, was blindfolded and bound when he was shot and killed by the federal agent at a home in northeast Houston while a team was trying to rescue him, according to investigators.
