I think we'd need something extreme to happen to our economy or push voters into supporting Pubs & a Convention. I don't see independent & moderate Dems getting behind Republicans unless the collapse has begun.

Now is not the time for that. We are not the people we once were and should wait until we are better than we are before opening certain doors. The modern left would wreck us if we let them get their paws on the Constitution. Recall, the congressional baseball for charity practice where a gunman opened fire. Lobbyists and Congress Critters were on the field. They openly associate with each other on a first name basis. And it’s as bipartisan as it gets.
There are 12,000 +/- registered lobbyists in the US and an unknown number who are not registered.
Both sides each spend $billion on the Presidential election.
