This is getting weird and creepy IMO. The GOP clearly thinks DeSantis is their future presidential candidate but what gives him the right to veto bills over a statement about gun violence? What happened to freedom of speech?

EXCLUSIVE: GOV. RON DESANTIS TO VETO $35 MILLION TAMPA BAY RAYS FACILITY AMID POLARIZATION OF SHOOTINGS

https://www.outkick.com/exclusive-go...-of-shootings/

One can assume DeSantis would try to do the same to states, organizations and anyone that dared to disagree with him but the Tampa Ray statement had NOTHING to do with DeSantis. He makes everything about him.

It's like Florida is becoming a police state.

Apparently Tampa Bay and Florida legislators thought it was a good idea.

Rays spring training plan in Pasco lands $35 million from lawmakers
The sports training and baseball center also would be used for amateur tournaments

The sports training complex is planned to include several full-size practice fields, a stadium with lighting and spectator seating, team clubhouse, locker rooms, indoor and outdoor training facilities, kitchen and dining rooms, player housing and parking, according to the funding request submitted by Sen. Danny Burgess, R-Zephyrhills.

“The whole region benefits if we’re able to keep our major league teams in the area,” Starkey said.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking. If the Rays want a new facility, let them pay for it, not the residents of Florida. Most of them probably couldn't care less about sports.

Well the good thing is it's easy for the Tampa Bay Rays to move to another state.

Rays, like so many others, should stick to running their businesses. Such the shame when their virtue signaling goes wrong.

I guess he's decided to fight the battle with stolen leftist weapons. It's like a US soldier using an AK. It still shoots. It still kills, even though it was made by the enemy. Brings to mind the old adage, "fight fire with fire."
