My guess is the town knows full well who this is. It even sounded like the clerk knows the kid personally based on her exchange with him. If he goes back to his school (he won't get a long sentence, unfortunately), I see a lot of folks pulling their kids out.

I've also seen "grandfather", but that's not been in an article - it's been in comments under news articles. It could be that his grandpa IS his guardian, though.

It sounds like she's saying Brian, but the clerk says she didn't know the boy and thought he was about 10 years old.
