There would are around 200 republican congressmen, surely were other choices than those two and he could have let the other 3 remain. Instead he withdrew the others and now he's claiming the committee is compromised, his choice.
Historically, the majority leader has accepted the choices by the minority leader when you have these committees. It’s called compromise. But this broke precedent. Remember this when the tables are turned, which they will be.
One thing I do agree with that Cheney said tonight—democracy is fragile and to continue to succeed, must be protected. Does this highly partisan committee protect it? No. Democracy is based on a system of fairness, and checks and balances, not that the system is rigged. This is a political hit-job. It should be a truly bi-partisan committee.
Democracy depends on the trust and acceptance of the people—this show tonight doesn’t help, and in all honesty, this polarization of our country doesn’t help. What type of government do you have when you hear one side, one “truth,” one right way of leading, one set of leaders getting their way, one side getting cancelled, one side getting arrested. It’s a quasi-dictatorship.
People are hurting, paying more than they ever have for gas and food and housing. And they’re concerned about crime, of person and property, and yet we have this lousy spectacle tonight. Do the politicians care? No. And yet they are supposed to work for us. But they don’t.
This is why Dems will probably keep everything (House, Senate, Presidency etc). They have been hijacked by nuts, but at least they are on the same page and coordinated. The Right just squabble among themselves and accomplish NOTHING
