Kind of like Russia, Russia, Russia, right?

The politicization of the Secret Service. I've always know that, politically, they lean hard right (I've known several people that work there over the years), but the whole texting thing is just disappointing.

"hard right"? No.

A recent article in the Washington Post reports that recent changes to the Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service were driven by the incoming Biden administration's perception of alleged loyalties to the Trump administration.
But the Secret Service doesn't function based on politics.

The hands-off approach that local DC police took towards "peaceful protestors" walking down the street or being up in the trees with guns and other weapons. I don't think other groups would have been treated so hands-off when it comes to openly having weapons of any sort on you.

Yeah see this is what I don't get. The complete lack of security, overall. We probably have the best security in the world to protect DC, and the capitol and those in it...until Jan 6.
Concealed carry of guns is allowed in DC, open carry is not allowed. Why would the cops allow protesters to openly carry weapons to possibly use them against the cops and others?
Why did the capitol cops allow ropes and climbing gear to be planted at the capitol and allow those things to remain there overnight, especially when they knew there would be protesters there the next day?
Why did the capitol cops open the gates and wave the protesters to go inside of the perimeter fencing?
Why did the capitol cops unlock doors at the capitol and allow protesters inside? Led them on "tours" through the capitol, took selfies with them, etc?
Why did the capitol cops fire riot control grenades at a large crowd of protesters, who were standing 'outside' of the perimeter fencing and who were just peacefully standing around? Were they trying to incite them, make them angry? seems they were successful in that.
Why did the capitol cops just stand there in the area where Babbitt was shot, allowing protesters to break windows? Even moving away from the doors when "let's burn this **** down" Sullivan asked them to move out of the way? When they could have tossed a couple of tear gas bombs into the area and had it cleared out in no time.
Why were so many capitol cops not on duty that day, when they knew there could very well be trouble?
Why no NG? Sund had requested that they be brought in a number of times before and during Jan 6. On Jan 5, Miller authorized them to be used on Jan 6. Oh yeah, we don't want them because of "optics" according to Pelosi's Sergeant at Arms.
Those and many more questions.
I don't buy the lame excuse of "the cops allowed them in because they were afraid". The cops, in DC, at the capitol, and across the country had proven in the past that they could stand against rioters who were far more well-armed and who had a solid history of extreme violence. But suddenly on Jan 6, all of these cops forgot how to be cops and were quivering in fear about protesters who were not known to be violent? lol, no.
It's almost like someone wanted the trouble to happen.
