I know what you are saying but it is not an epidemic. Considering how many people are in NYC this is still a rare crime but even one is too many.
It’s called Track Intrusion in NYC meaning person on the tracks. Most are voluntary trespass: suicides, drunks, addicts, mentally ill, running from Cops, and just stray walkers- really bizarre.
The NYC Metro is the largest in the world with 472 stations. From a ridership perspective it ranks #7 with about 65 million riders each year.
Suicide by jumping in front of a moving train has long plagued all subway systems, especially in Seoul, SK.
The 24/7 news cycle and social media make us all more aware of violent crime.

You mean put glass doors on platforms like they do in the big Asian cities. That would cost too much money we don't have, its all been spent on feeding and housing illegals.
It has happened in Chicago. In one recent notorious case, the pusher was a college professor. The fellow who hit the tracks survived and climbed out on his own.
