Good question. I don't know, but I guess it would depend on the individuals.

YUP.

My argument is whoever you have lost, you never were really that close to.

I really don't have enough acquaintances to judge, but just going by the posts I see on City-Data, until about a year ago, I saw many more posts saying they would cut off people who voted for Trump, but now I am seeing more posts from non-liberals saying that they now find it hard to tolerate far-left liberals at all.

Again, though, I do know enough people to say which is more prevalent now (Trump haters or liberal haters).

Personally, I do try to avoid extreme liberals as much as I try to avoid racists of any color.

If as I get to know someone I find they aren't a 'good' person (same politics or not) I may not choose to deepen that relationship.

But my closest group of friends are all conservative. We have such great times together. Most of them are very religious too....and we aren't really. But we still have so much fun. We enjoy four day week ends where we eat, drink, be merry and just enjoy each other's company. Sure it means not getting into heavy political discussions but occasionally something comes up and we can talk about stuff without any animosity.

I cringe to think what I would have missed out if I had shut these people out because they all voted for Trump.

I recently asked a long time colleague who posted on world wide forum his demonization of Donald Trump. He has posted it many times. On this occasion I asked him if could accept disagreements?

I was hoping that the typical rant would be steadied by our friendship. To no surprise his response was a standard litany which I won't repeat as we all know it. He also lectured and attempted to shame me and pursued a lecture which went on for quite a while. I responded and said I would take that as a "no' to my question. He then lectured about debate etiquette and I posted that it is a question.

Can you accept disagreements? I let him know also that I would always be fond of him as we had worked together for many years in critical care.

My daughter in law upon learning that we supported President Trump has not made contact for over five years despite our birthday cards to her. Both of these people we were very close to.

I remain shocked that the essence of democracy (tolerating others views) is out of the window. Apparently now Fascism has concluded that they can beat us down.

Gotta get to work. Thank you for listening.
I can possibly give you some reasons why people get so mad at those who don't want liberalism.

- Liberalism is like a religion to them - conservatives are the infidel
- Union schoolteachers said liberals are good and conservatives are bad (I got this in 4th-6th grade)
- They expect to gain something for themselves from liberal policies
- They expect liberal government to take care of them or give them free healthcare
- Some of them think they won't have to work in the liberal utopia
- Many of them hate religions and want the freedom to do as they want that liberals promise
- Many want legal abortion and GLBT
- Some side with satan to do things God prohibits
- They listen to celebrities who hate conservatives
- At least three liberal members of Congress wanted Trump to die from COVID
- Hollywood filmmakers want a socialist government so they don't have to sell their ideas to sponsors

Note that there was a hate campaign against Trump that started the day Hillary lost. She had promised to force religions to accept abortion and GLBT.

That is important.

Part of the reason many of us, family and friends, flocked around my grandmother was because she was the highest quality human being a number of us had ever encountered, but another reason was that she was so much fun to be around.

There's a whole lot of irony in this thread.

There are different types of conservatives.

Some people are fiscally conservative and socially libertarian.

Some people are fiscally conservative and socially conservative.

Trump is, in a stand alone sense, neither fiscally conservative nor socially conservative.
