When you're talking that kind of cash, those scruples and sensibilities go right out the window, it seems

"A former world No.1 resigned membership from the PGA Tour before playing in this weekend’s inaugural event of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, the latest wave created by the controversial new golf tour bankrolled by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.

“I chose what’s best for me and my family,” Dustin Johnson told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday.

Johnson reportedly signed a roughly $125 million deal, not including prize money, for his participation in the eight-event LIV series. That haul dwarfs the $74 million in prize money that Johnson made through his 15-year career on the PGA Tour.

Johnson won't be alone: Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson will also be playing at the upcoming event at the Centurion Club north of London, though he hasn’t publicly said he’s leaving the PGA Tour. Other top PGA Tour names, including some former major champions — such as Sergio Garcia, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell, and Lee Westwood — will all be playing, potentially spearheading an exodus from golf's nearly 100-year old tour."

OTOH, it's nice to see a monopoly broken up.

DJ has proven that he is an individual with absolutely no moral compass. I don’t begrudge a guy trying to make a buck, but his willingness to accept Saudi blood money is reprehensible. The Saudis are doing exactly what Hitler and his Nazi party did in 1936 Berlin Olympics…using sports as a way to try and distract the world from seeing them as being a bunch of murderers. DJ and everyone of the aforementioned golfers should be banned from all future PGA Tour, European Tour, Senior PGA Tour, and USGA events. There are all a bunch of whores.

As someone who has lived in the Middle East a long time, and understands the nuances, I don’t see the Saudis as evil or a destabilizing influence on the region. I see them as the opposite of that.

If you want to find true evil, it’s coming from the side that doesn’t like Saudi Arabia.

But I get it, leftists are upset because Khashoggi was killed. But he knew the danger he was in, and he was warned repeatedly to stop working to overthrow the rulers. I don’t believe that Americans, even leftists, would like a Saudi Arabia run by Wahabbists as opposed to MBS and his regime. Which is what Khashoggi was advocating for.

If I was a golfer, I would have zero problems working with the Saudis.

Heck, the Saudis probably have enough money to buy the entire PGA and call it whatever they want.

The US still buys oil from OPEC. We're still allies with SA.

It's ok for the US government to deal with them but not individuals ?

Yet when America illegally invades and occupies sovereign nations and murders innocents in undeclared, un Constitutional wars, that's okay somehow?

Team America F Yea!

With all that sand, Gary Player would have dominated.

Tiger is probably second-guessing his decision to turn down the Saudi's 1 billion offer for him to defect.
