You are also forgetting that EV charging stations have to make a profit, so their charging rates are several times larger than if you were charging at home. I know this is the case with 'ElectrifyAmerica'. I do not know about Tesla's superchargers...
I wonder about that. When we stay at an RV campground that has metered electricity, they cannot charge more then the utility company charges. Some law, at least in Nevada an Utah.

They don't have to charge for the electric, just a fee for using their equipment either based on amount used, time or whatever else they want.
Are many people under the assumption that an EV is optimal for road trips? It seems that most people who have EVs and like them typically don’t use them to drive say over 100 miles a day. I certainly wouldn’t want to take a road trip in an EV with the lack of charging infrastructure. They seem to be good for basic commuting and errands around town purposes. Definitely not a sound choice for some people.

I am not under that assumption -- that an EV is optimal for road trips -- but the politicians banning future sales of gas powered cars seem to be making that assumption.
Not “all” like your strawman, no, but it’s hardly as if there aren’t tens of thousands of videos of diesel truck owners rolling coal on unsuspecting bystanders.
What’d you say about hypocrisy again, I didn’t catch that.
My wife and I read that article recently and found it unsurprising. There is also a multitude of YouTube videos of EV trucks failing to get 1/3rd of the range under tow while costing nearly as much as current gas prices to refuel.
At the moment, EVs are niche vehicles. I am rooting for them, but we are nowhere close. We need the vision to merge the tech to extend the use of ICE engines more efficiently without government interference and mandates.
I'm happy to conclude that EVs are not the future, after traveling to multiple countries and seeing what is the future: mass public transportation, electric bikes, scooters, and walking.
Cars, including electric ones, were never the solution to "saving the planet." You can't replace one car with another car and pat yourself on the back.
