Besides the charging issues, there is the expense of replacing the batteries every 10 years to the tune of $10K or so. It doesn't seem that the cost of buying, operating, and maintaining an EV amortized over 10 years would any less than an ICE vehicle, maybe more.
Hybrids make more sense right now until there is better infrastructure in place for EV's.

Does it take longer than ICE due to charging? Yes.
Is it impossible? No.
Does the average American need to do this often, if ever? No.
