Technically speaking, of course. No guns, no shooting.

Politically, no. The problem here is that the American Founding Fathers made 'arms' a philosophical and political issue which elevated 'arms' to the same plane of priority as free speech and religion.

If: Arms = Speech
Then: Mass shootings = Hate speech

Therefore, fewer speech means less hate. Eventually, no speech means it is not possible for hate to propagate and we would all love each other.

Does anyone buy that? WOULD anyone buy that? Apparently, the Euros and Canadians did.

So in the US, we have to settle the philosophical and political dilemma of 'arms' in general before we can move on to the technical problem of removing several hundred millions firearms in the US.

Interesting how laws against grenades, fully automatic guns, and anti air craft missiles work 99.9% of the time yet new gun laws would be ignored by criminals.

Ignored by criminals?

Watch how uptight LE gets any time terrorists come close to having Stingers or Grails.

Fixed it for you.

Take some time to read some critiques of opinion polls suggesting support for gun control. Most can be pretty easily picked apart to identify how they were designed to elicit specific responses.

The polling industry is almost as dirty as the media industry. That should've been made exceptionally clear to anyone paying attention during/after the 2016 election cycle.

If you don't have even a basic grasp of how polls are manipulated, you're being manipulated by polls. Just sayin'.
Great point!!!

The NRA is vilified because every extremist movement needs a boogeyman.

It makes no sense that I can waltz into any gun store and immediately purchase as many semi-automatic rifles that I want. No permit required.

I'm pro-2nd. I don't want guns banned, but at the same time, the above makes no sense to me.
Unlike a pistol you cant hide a rifle in your pocket and go out in public with no one knowing you have the thing. That's the difference.

Heck, the real problem is the states themselves when it comes to gun laws! Who would have ever thought the states would be tougher on guns than the feds?!! Where is the logic in that? Are not the states supposed to protect our rights? LOL
That all depends on which state that you live in? 25 states now have Constitutional Carry status where a permit is not required to carry a sidearm for any lawful purpose. 37 states have now adopted 2nd Amendment sanctuary resolutions. Some states such as Arizona where I live have their own Constitutional statute regarding the bearing of arms.

Quote:
"The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the state shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men."---Excerpt from the Constitution from the State of Arizona. Section 26. Bearing Arms.

You don't even know what an assault weapon is or isn't. Neither does anyone else that uses that term.

Freedom isn't free. It actually requires a great deal of effort, and it requires defending it every now and again. If you ever have a problem with freedom, you can always move to China where you will never have to worry about having the right and freedom to defend yourself, your family and/or your home with a firearm... Sounds like paradise, no???

Another attractive option for you would be Mexico, where guns are heavily restricted to the public. Surely there are no gun related crimes there...
