The money we whiz away on stupid nonsense is absolutely sickening.
If we kept it here, and actually used it HERE, we’d be in a much better place.
I understand we need to spend money to protect certain American interests, but biblical boatloads are whizzed away for more nefarious purposes. These politicians wheel out the Koolaid tray and people gulp it up. We waste so much of OUR tax money to do nothing more than line pockets and pimp power.
Gov't now consumes ~50% of GDP and growing. In 1930 gov't spent only 10%. Modern day economies collapse at ~60% of gov't spending because there's no longer enough capital to keep the private sector alive.

Look closely at this chart that only goes through 2018...before the Trillions of covid "stimulus" were "whizzed away":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Govern...ending_GDP.png

If you continue the escalated line graph uward and forward in time, you can guess when we'll hit 60%.

Biden & Zelinsky...Biden is likely sweating bullets that Zelinsky will sing about all the money the Biden family crime syndicate has laundered through Ukraine. Zelinsky likely tol Biden to send money and ammo to help hi out, or he'll sing. That is likely why the $40B was sent to Ukraine.

The wreckless spending of other people's money, knows no bounds...until the collapse

Even if true, there is no good reason for Biden to say this publicly. You don’t undermine a country under attack that we support. While I agree with a lot of the posters on here that we have problems at home that need attention, assisting Ukraine with arms and money is the right thing to do. It is becoming increasingly clear that Putin doesn’t just want to punish Ukraine, but wipe it off the map. This most certainly does concern us. A successful Russian conquest of all or most of Ukraine will embolden them to go after the Baltics next. After that, who knows?

We should do whatever it takes, short of committing troops, to assist Ukraine until Russia is defeated. Our goal should be the restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty to its internationally recognized pre-2014 borders.

I cautioned against massive weapons and aid packages to Ukraine when we have record inflation and stock market problems at home, we decided to spend like crazy.
I’m curious, what would the appropriate US response have been to the Russian incursion?

Should we have gone to war with Nazi Germany? Was Hitler threatening to invade the U.S.?

Damn, I miss Trump. He may have been lewd, rude, and crude in many people's eyes, but he was a leader, and no one - NO ONE - messed with the USA and its allies, and he kept the wolves (Russia, North Korea, Iran, China) at bay.
Now, it's a free for all, courtesy of the Geezer in Charge, his administration, and all the dummies who voted for him.

Not even comparable.

There is no threat to the US with Ukraine war.

FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to be bombed so we could get involved.
The Gulf of Tonkin never happened but that was the excuse for Vietnam.

Did any of the ME countries threaten to invade the US ? Why did we invade them ?

The only reason we’re in this is because Ukraine is extorting Biden.
They have enough dirt to bury him, his family, and his ancestors.

No. Nord Stream 2 was about to go online and that would have cratered Ukraine because their pipeline is old and crumbling.

Sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest thing….nothing. Sanctions have never succeeded with regime change on far weaker countries than Russia, not only did we gain nothing from them but they are hurting our middle/lower class through higher prices. And in effect, we removed all our leverage over them. Now Russia, cutoff from the west, is developing relations with secondary and emerging markets like Africa, India, Middle East and even South American countries. We should have never intervened in Ukrainian politics dating back to Maidan, and should have helped broker an agreement from the onset of this conflict using the leverage we would still have. Our actions have resulted in the needless loss of Ukrainian life and territory, we’ve made it worse and nobody is benefiting.
