if we get that far the only commodity which will truly matter is who has the power to take it or the power to defend it. Not a pleasant image of the future but at least we have that power.

The U.S. does not have a monopoly on raw materials. China imports raw materials from SEVERAL countries. I assume these countries would be delighted to increase their exports to China.

That's assuming that other countries can provide the same exports to China that the US provides to China. I doubt that is a valid assumption.

So, how many raw materials does China import that can you name where the U.S. holds the monopoly on supply? I can’t think of even one.

It does not need to be a monopoly, removing a significant chunk of imports would still cripple China's economy.

Why did trump ban drilling for more oil off the coast of Florida as well as any other states? And you see desantis applauding this drilling ban in the picture.

Do you suppose it has anything to do with the fact that there are many other places in the US to drill that don't have the potential of an oil spill that would devastate pristine beaches, millions of jobs, and tens of millions of people?

It sounds like he listened to the people and not the oil companies.

The oil industry has aggressively lobbied the Trump administration to open up the Eastern Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas drilling when the current moratorium on exploration there ends in June 2022. Florida residents are strongly opposed to opening up the area to drilling rigs, however, fearful that an oil spill would wreck the state’s tourism and fishing economy — something its Panhandle region got a taste of during the catastrophic BP spill in 2010.
