The older movies were just better. Disney ruined the Star Wars franchise, and will eventually screw up anything. At one time Disney movies were a "must-see". Now, they are just MEH.

What adult wants to sit thru a kids movie? LOL NOT ME!

In the 80s, when our parents took us to the movies, the kids would see one movie, and our parents would see another movie. This was the norm for us. Kids didnt want to watch some boring adult movie, and the adults didnt want to watch some goofy kids movie either.

Have you never watched a Disney or Pixar movie?

Just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it won't be enjoyed by adults. It was overall a solid movie, but the theater wasn't full, which is a poor showing for opening weekend.

As much as Disney will deny it, I’ll bet they refused to use Tim Allen because he is an outspoken conservative and as mad jasper said, Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear.

We can only hope that the wokesters get canned.

Some make it seem as if only Republicans are upset with Disney. Many parents, regardless of political background, aren’t happy with Disney for a variety of reasons. There are also more than Christian families unhappy with Disney. Whole nations have banned this movie from being released in their nation. Personally I wouldn’t be interested in this movie. Disney should have made an animated movie based upon the Buzz Lightyear animated series using the same voice actors. That series provided the type of program “Andy” most likely saw making him want a Buzz Lightyear action figure.

Oh they will. Based on these numbers, doesn't look like they'll be recouping the cost of this $200M giant. They'll have to lay off thousands. The same people who complained and protested to have their gay scenes put in will probably be the first on the chopping block.

Patrick Warburton could also have been Buzz Lightyear since he provided the voice on the animated series and he has a history with Disney having voiced Kronk in The Emperor’s New Groove.

All of the four critics I like had the same complaint: Their enjoyment of the story suffered from the heavy-handed messaging.

I personally don't like movies that are ham-fisted with their messages even when I agree with the message. That's why, even as a Christian, I don't bother watching most overtly Christian movies.

But I think in this case current economic situation plays the greatest factor. People (with or without kids) who already like Pixar movies probably already have Disney+ at home...they're already paying for the service, so they can wait a few weeks rather than pay $50-100 to see it at the theater. It's not like a Jurassic movie that would greatly benefit by the large screen and powerful sound system.
EXACTLY! That is the issue with making a movie or TV show to push an agenda instead of making the program to be entertaining. Some movies and TV shows are so blatantly obvious with the agenda message it takes away from whatever the story was trying to convey.
