The message here is, you don't have to be what people are telling you you are.
Notice the crayon's gender didn't change - he was consistently "he" and "my son" throughout.
Sounds like the message in the classic children's book, "Cow that went OINK" to me, which is about accepting yourself even though you're different from the expectations others have for you.
And Ferdinand The Bull, who was peaceful and wouldn't fight the matador even though that's what all the other bulls wanted to do.
Moral of the story: A man can dress as a woman and label himself a woman, but he is still a man. Until he accepts himself as a man he will be confused and will confuse others.
