Most Americans are unaware of the genius behind the original Electoral College. The Founders did not want a parliamentary democracy, where the majority enacted -and- executed the laws with partisanship.
To best select a chief executive, and to insure nonpartisan execution of the laws enacted by Congress, a national popularity contest is not the way to go. And we especially do not want partisan parties in control of the Executive branch (with its power to appoint officials). Thus the Electoral College was inaugurated. This group selected candidates, of which the one with the most votes was president, and the next most votes, his vice president (and chief rival). The function of the “vice” was to be a fly on the wall, assuring the nonpartisan execution of the enacted legislation.
The original attempt was marred by being too effective, in that George Washington’s V.P., John Adams, was a royal pain. The remedy - to elect a TEAM - created a monster - giving partisan control over the executive branch and appointments, that was the opposite of the Founder’s intentions.
Abolishing the Electoral College will not cure the ills of democracy.
Any reform of the Electoral College needs to address these issues:
[] A chief executive officer is not the LEADER, but highest ranking SERVANT;
[] He is the commander in chief, entrusted with defending America against all enemies, foreign or domestic;
[] He must have served in the militia, or in active military duty;
[] His choices for executive officers must not be based on partisan politics but upon competence, loyalty, and civic responsibility;
[] That he be of the highest moral caliber and have a character above reproach is essential in one to hold such a position of trust and power.
The Electors should be chosen by each congressional district (popular vote) and two by the state legislators (corresponding to the two senators).
The reformed Electoral College should be elected one year before the end of the term of the current executive. They should convene and hold public hearings to examine any and all candidates who seek to serve as executives, chief or appointed. Upon completion of their assigned duties to investigate candidates, they should vote for the officers who will become the president and vice president, as well as provide a dossier of potential appointees, approved by the College.
Such a system eliminates the need for legalized bribery (campaign contributions) as well as the skew towards wealthy individuals who can afford to run for office. We want honorable public servants, not self serving, power seeking, money hungry panderers who may have skeletons in their closet to be used as leverage to corrupt them.
In addition, the Electors should become Ombudsmen, serving as liaison between the people (and their state governments) and the executive branch - relieving the legislators (congressmen) from fielding complaints of their constituents.
Though not perfect, it should provide a better means to have the blessings of liberty without the flaws of democracy.
{Democracy is a vile system wherein a majority can legally persecute a minority. Under the republican form, all men have Creator endowed rights that governments were instituted to secure - not tax, regulate nor trespass. Only those who consent to be governed, become subject to and object of the laws of the indirect democratic form.}

I suggest reading a decent high school civics, government, or AP history book. It sounds like you're just making things up.
Revolt that is a internet fantasy it would be put down fast can't win a war with small arms.
Just because the federal government decided that breaking away from the union was cause to mass murder a whole lot of people doesnt mean it would happen that way again. It is entirely possible that states could break away without Uncle Sam going all murderous ex-boyfriend on the states.
Anyway, the US government couldnt win that war. Would kill a whole lot of people but look at every modern war, the US has the most pathetic military when it comes to actually winning. Spent 20 years in Afghanistan only to lose to the Taliban.
Just get rid of the Electoral College altogether...then 1 person truly equals 1 vote.
Current candidates for POTUS only even campaign in about a dozen states...several large states like TX/CA/NY and many small states like WY/KS/OR/VT don't ever see any campaigning...make it so these candidates have to earn each and every vote...even in states like CA, while yes it's a heavily Democratic state, there are a large # of Republicans...oppositely even though TX is red, there are lots of Dems there...force both parties to get out and truly compete...
look at Nevada...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 17 counties...Hillary won only 2....trump took 15 counties
look at Colorado ...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 64 counties...Hillary won only 23..... trump took 41 counties
look at Oregon ...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 36 counties...Hillary won only 8..... trump took 28 counties
look at Washington ...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 39 counties...Hillary won only 12..... trump took 27 counties
look at New Mexico...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 33 counties...Hillary won only 14..... trump took 19 counties
look at Minnesota ...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates....but...out of 87 counties...Hillary won only 9..... trump took 78 counties
look at VERY BLUE New York...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates.... but...out of 62 counties... Hillary won only 16..... trump took 46 counties
look at VERY BLUE Maryland...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates.... but...out of 24 counties... Hillary won only 7..... trump took 17 counties
look at Virginia...Hillary won the state (popular vote) and got the electoral delegates.... but...out of 133 counties... Hillary won only 40..... trump took 93 counties
look at Florida (trump won)....9 million people voted...and of that 48.6% said trump over Hillary
People vote not land. Your argument is a straw man.

then you need to be able to vote for 1 president, and 1 VP separately
if you truly believe in one person, one vote (which is NOT what our representative republic is) then you need to separate the VP and Pres slot, you also need to put the senators back to being state selected.
Think about how many more votes Biden could have had if he was not attached to Harris, Harris was/is a hinderance
How is one man one vote communism. Last I checked it was democracy.
a true democracy is just like communism
one person, one vote, all about the community
The true definition of democracy is to let the people become the masters of the country. which is the same as communism, Communism Theoretically, it the MOST democratic form of govt.
Communism and democracy are not opposites.
They work hand in hand, as that ideology is inherently democratic. So there’s no need to compare them like that. Democracy literally means “rule by people”.
All socialists and communists believe in democracy, both political and economic — that is, the power in the hands of the ordinary people, and the right for all workers to exercise self-determination. Real freedom can exist where people cannot be exploited of their labor value, and do not live in fear and pressure of losing their job or their house and can think about other things. Marx was a supporter of radical democracy all his adult life.
but the modern liberals/left of America, they don't want democracy, they want socialism, where the government dictates everything to them
