Well I wasn't worried that my son was having sex in 5th grade, that's for sure.
Lawn Boy is grades 5-7.
I didnt say 5th grade. I said attraction to the opposite sex starts around the 6th or 7th grade, every kid is different, for me, it was late 6th grade that I started to like girls, (im a male btw). and by 7th grade, it was FULL ON!
Of course, there were some kids in my class that were not there yet, but the large majority changed by 7th grade.
It is easier said than done but not impossible. As a parent what are your values? Are they strong enough that you will stand behind them. If the public school was teaching, promoting things that went against my values, I would pull my kids. Make any sacrifices, give up any luxury or extras to pay tuition to a school more inclined to my views.

TMS, maybe you should have been a little aware that there are kids having sex in 5th grade.
I don't know why you say Lawn Boy is grades 5-7. The sex act happened between 2 4th graders, and the book is being offered to high schoolers. It was written as fiction for adults, by the library classification.
The article states high school. I would agree if it was for a sixth grader. I would bet most kids that are interested in sex, or who are already sexually active, be it straight or gay, have seen much more graphic scenes on their computers.
The article talks about high schools. The article though was not the only thing in the OP. It also wasn't the primary focus in the OP. The video I posted shows a parent bringing this to the attending of the school board because it was recommended for the 6th grade class.
Even disregarding the fact that this was exposed to (or encouraged to be exposed to at the very least) 6th graders I personally believe, and lots of people agree with me, that pornography shouldn't be exposed to underage youth, especially in school. I know this is kind of a radical perspective...

You say it is not impossible. Is it possible for families that are living paycheck to paycheck, trying to make ends meet every week, to drastically increase the cost of schooling for their children and/or decrease the amount of funds coming into the home, especially as costs are continuing to rise everywhere in this country?
Should children being exposed to pornographic materials in school be something that is normal for public schools to begin with?

What do you mean by grades 5-7?
Very few kids are sexually active at the age of 10.
Lawn Boy is recommended to kids ages 9 and up from Common Sense media. If it was meant to be fiction for adults, why is it in school libraries?
No it isn’t. Many people private or home school. I doubt it’s easy or a privileged to do so.
You can also address my issues with your previous post regarding private and home schooling as well. I'd be very interested to know how families barely scraping by are going to be able to afford this...
This is just porn directed at a very young audience. Does the library also have books depicting sex between a 10 year old girl and boy? I doubt it and certainly hope not.
