Here comes a lot of talk about packing the court or get rid of the Supreme Court. The left didn't get their way so they will do anything they can to show they aren't happy. They are spoiled brats as we all know and have seen in the past.
Of course they are going to pack the court. And the next GOP president will pack them back with conservatives. And I am sure you will be fine with that. This is politics.

My guess is this will hurt the GOP in November, more than they realize now. And Biden will likely pack the court early next year. What does that mean? There will be a race for 60 votes in the senate. The red wave happens and pushes them over 60. The GOP can pass just about whatever it wants.
The new leftist SCOTUS will not only rule in abortion but go after guns and anything else the GOP holds dear. This is gloves off for both sides.
There will be a roller coaster of laws being struck down and approved by the right then left then right etc ever expanding in size SCOTUS. Until our country goes completely off the rails.

You are correct politically....how does this change things for the midterms....traditionally the party in power loses seats in congress during midterms....and especially when the president is unpopular...so most people understandably are predicting a Red Wave election. But #1 We do NOT live in conventional times. #2 the overturing of Roe...regardless of how one views it...now makes the conservatives the party that is in power. This is the first time a court has taken a person's right away and a woman's right on top of that. Roe has been an icon of the culture wars for 50 years...no one thought they would completely overturn it....if people think that doesn't impact the electorate...then that is just being naive. We will see in about 4.5 months.
Yeah the decision explicitly calls for reconsidering Griswold(contraceptives), Lawrence(sodomy laws), and Obergefell(same sex marriage). Inviting the government into all of our bedrooms.
Quite the opposite. The decision several times explicitly made abundantly clear that the cases you mention are distinguishable from Roe and aren't affected:
"The most striking feature of the dissent is the absence of any serious discussion of the legitimacy of the States’ interest in protecting fetal life. This is evident in the analogy that the dissent draws between the abortion right and the rights recognized in Griswold (contraception), Eisenstadt (same), Lawrence (sexual conduct with member of the same sex), and Obergefell (same-sex marriage). Perhaps this is designed to stoke unfounded fear that our decision will imperil those other rights, but the dissent’s analogy is objectionable for a more important reason: what it reveals about the dissent’s views on the protection of what Roe called “potential life.” "
Leaving decisions up to the states isn't "restricting the rights of Americans". Regulating everything at the federal level is restricting the rights of the states however.
