The NYC Mayor was on TV and he was not happy with this ruling because his fear is that the streets will become like the Wild West. Hey it already is thanks to the failed policies of the Democrats. With this ruling the good law abiding folks might stand a chance against the Thugs that the Dems seem so eager to protect.
My state, Mass. is similar to NY in that the local Police chief has the final say in what type of license is granted. You can pay your fees, do the classes, pass the background check and your license is still downgraded. This was a real problem when this system was first brought in. Guys that had their licenses to carry for decades were being denied because the Chief did not like them. There were many court cases where good people had to fight for their Rights.
I can only imagine that NYC is going to just bury would be gun owners in red tape and fees hoping that most will not even bother to apply.
I most certainly would not want to be an NYC police officer and have to contend with this, the current NYC mayor who is ex-policeman has stated the same. There are other states with similar laws and this does not rule out any restriction, just NYC for now.
I can't imagine concealed carry on a the recent subway shooting.
Let see, we have an ultra liberal Los Angeles D.A. doing his best to get murderers back on the street. Chicago leaders preventing the police from chasing suspects, a National liberal backed push to defund the police and you want to guarantee only criminals are allowed to carry weapons?
"the State of New York will not be able to deny any individual who is not a prohibited possessor as described by federal law a permit to lawfully carry a concealed firearm for personal self defense out side of the home"
And I'd bet the $ cost for that permit will be VERY HIGH! So high many will NOT be able to afford it.
So in that case, paying thousands of dollars to exercise your right to bear arms is fine but requiring ID (which costs about $3-$10) to vote is such an egregious form of "paying for your rights" it's a "threat to our democracy". Sheesh.
Looks like the July 4th fireworks are going to happen early this year.
