In Florida we hear every month of subway crimes in NYC. I visited NYC recently during some free time from JFK. I saw that for most of New Yorkers subway travel was a requirement due to traffic. I asked a New Yorker if she flet safe on the subway. She said yes the subway is safe. I mentioned the crimes and she said there where so many people on the subway that her odds were good she would not be a victum. I felf sorry for her knowing she really had no alternative. We should allow people to protect themselves when obviously the police will not offer a crime free subway.

I always said it's difficult to ban or restrict gun ownership. The only thing that could be effective would be laws allowing lawsuits by victims of gun violence against owners/businesses of firearms involved in a crime.

Crime free is generally an impossibility, and is due more to societal constraints than police presence.

I am reminded of a joke. A man picks up a hitchhiker. The hitchhiker asks if the driver isn't afraid that he's picked up a serial killer. The driver replies "no, because the odds of two serial killers being in the same car are very low".

Riding the subway means paying attention to your surroundings and letting someone else be the victim.

Blaming the wrong person. It should be against the criminal not liquor store.
