Chicago police officers will no longer be allowed to chase people on foot simply because they run away or give chase over minor offenses, the department said Tuesday, more than a year after two foot pursuits ended with officers fatally shooting a 13-year-old boy and 22-year-old man.
For starters, the 22-year-old man survived (unfortunately) while the fresh gang recruit with him died (unfortunately). And of course the cops were pursuing them because the kid had just opened fire on a passing car. The Soros-funded DA tried to find a way to charge the cops with a crime but couldn't, so she reluctantly exonerated them while still blaming them for the kid's death and not on the fact he had turned and pointed a gun at them, or that they were chasing him in the first place because he shot at somebody.
So why that was the catalyst for telling cops they can't chase after trespassers or reckless drivers or petty thieves who simply don't feel like being arrested that day is beyond me. It's like the Broken Windows approach in reverse: it doesn't matter if every window is broken is long as the building is not on fire.
Sooo...drones armed with tasers? I mean....that does seem the solution right?
Unfortunately for the city residents and workforce, it means the cops will sit back and do nothing while the punks and low-lives have their way with the place. There's no point in risking your pension so a politically ambitious mayor and/or an ideologically vindictive DA make an example of you.

The solution that is being implemented is just "hands off" and show up later to fill out the paperwork.
I lived in Chicago, so let's be real here.
Nobody important really gives a crap about gang bangers mowing down gang bangers.
If the cops shoot them, it's a big problem.
So, the city is just going to back away and let them murder the sh*t out of each other.
Now that is going to create some unfortunate surges in gun crime and homicide numbers but they already have that covered because they will just blame guns.
We already have one south sider that posts here that buys into that BS (it's the guns!), despite the nice parts of Chicago being largely safe despite the ignorant comments of right wingers that have never been, let alone lived there.
So there you go. The city just decided that to appease those communities, they're going to reverse progress and just let the bad neighborhoods shoot it out.

Only problem with bangers mowing down bangers is occasionally bystanders catch a stray. Otherwise it's all good. You can let the bangers bang in no-go zones, or at historically that's how it's been handled. The idea that you'll have the hands-off approach citywide though is definitely a new experiment. I'll get some popcorn. Should be fun.
