Yesterday's Supreme Court decision overturning Roe said nothing about it being a state issue - all it said was that abortion was no longer a constitutional right.
Story time... I work with several retired nurses who remember what it was like before the Roe vs Wade ruling. There were women coming in to the hospital every single day with internal bleeding from botched abortions done at home or done by some doctor in a basement clinic.
The nurses explained that even though they personally do not like the idea of abortion, it being legal is so much better than the alternative. But of course people who want abortion banned won't care about this and will say the women deserved it.
Either way, I think this is an idiotic move. Republicans were more than likely going to clean house in November and now with this ruling, swing voters will come out in droves and certainly won't be voting Republican.
I wonder if the liberals will still fly the Ukraine flag on their social media accounts once they realize that abortion is limited to the first 12 weeks of a pregnancy there, which is 3 weeks earlier than Mississippi's law, which started this. LOL
Hyperbole. The only decision that has been taken away in some states is the choice to terminate a life because said life has to grow inside another human, and even then only after a certain time period in most of those.
And the Constitution never gave them that right. That is the crux of the matter here.
Exactly!
Women do not have equal rights under the U.S. Constitution.
The abortion bans popping up in States prove that freedom in America is being attacked like never before. At this rate things in the States will really go down the toilet.
In response to what's happening the pro abortion protesters need to form freedom convoys and go to States like Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana. There they need to start honking their horns at all hours in front of the State capital buildings of these States, as well as chant things like liberty and freedom. And they need to do this until Dictator Tyrants like Greg Abbott or Kevin Stitt change the ban. Other wise America will be lost.
Might be the most ignorant comment on the thread. Impressive.
News flash: Men don't have a right to an abortion, either.
Name one medical decisions that men in the U.S. are not allowed to make about their own bodies.
