No, they don't want to get it through their minds. The majority of people value a living woman and her mental and physical health and well being over a bunch of cells within her body. A woman is a living human being who usually has family, friends, work, people who depend upon her, people who love her and whom she loves. An embryo or fetus does not. It's irrational to think that a bunch of cells that could develop into a human being is more important than an actual human being.
And they try to make it sound as though people want to abort the fetus at the last minute which they do not. Late term abortions are rare and it's usually to save the woman's life or because the fetus is already dead inside her or would be born dead with no hope at all. It's called compassion.
No, I don’t think so. The topic should remain with the voters of the states. Let the people of each state decide.
They will never, never, ever allow the abortion decision to go to the voters. The majority of people (including Republicans) approve of abortion in the first trimester.
It would be a great way for actual Republicans to leave the party, as it would be a complete overreach of federal authority from the Party of small government.
However, this is not enough, IMHO. Sadly, baby killing is still occurring across the country. Therefore, I hope the Republicans win both Congress and the presidency in 2024, so they can pass a similar law nationally.
My question is: if the Republicans win back control in 2024, how likely will they totally ban abortion in America?
How could they do that. If the Supreme Court says it has to be up to the states, how does it all of a sudden become a federal issue again?

Simple. The Supreme Court has demonstrated how easy it is for them to change their minds. All they need to do is get a right wing president in office (Pence already says he wants abortion illegal everywhere), get a red state to push a case to the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court says "oops, we're changing it again, abortion is murder from the moment of conception, it's illegal everywhere now".
I think it's not only possible but likely over the next few years. The Supreme Court is completely owned by the religious right, this won't even be hard for them to do. One could say an anti abortion president isn't needed, and it's not, but I'm guessing it would help motivate them just like Trump did.
I'm against abortion myself....but I agree with you that it will never be totally banned. That's just being used as a political scare tactic to vote against Republicans.
Gorsuch said during his confirmation hearing..."a fetus isn't a person".
They said a lot of things during their confirmation hearings. Meant nothing. We now know those confirmation hearings are pointless. McConnell wouldn't even give Garland a confirmation hearing, he just decided no on. his own. They said precedent mattered, they said stare decisis mattered. Then they ruled it didn't matter.
