I think in many cases it is necessary. Sometimes a parent has to be a parent and come down hard on a troubled kid. The fear of prison, a long prison sentence can be a deterrent. If it isn't, what does that say about the individual?

How did this shooting have anything to do with the recent ruling? was this a permit holding carrier?

I am assuming that the gun did it by itself or, if guided by a person, that individual was very serious about complying with gun laws.

And that is exactly why we have the issues we have in our society. You can't have it both ways. You really can't be this naïve can you ?

I am 100% for stop and frisk. I have zero problems with police randomly stopping as many people as they can, either on foot or in a car, and then searching them to check for illegal weapons of any kind.

But liberals do not want this. What they really want is to disarm anyone who doesn’t agree with their ideology, and to that, I say absolutely not!

As much as I don't agree with the recent SCOTUS ruling or the wild west approach to gun ownership nothing in this horrific story shows that either were a factor. Like so many gun related crimes the culprit does not have a legal gun, license or morals & values. At best an illegal gun sale may be pinned if the weapon can be recovered and traced back then charges and arguments can be brought against how the gun was legitimately purchased at some point and ended up in a felons hands.

His method violated the 4th Amendment. I love the 2nd and 4th Amendments. I have a "Live Free or Die" mentality. I refuse to support Stop and Frisk. I also don't like some of New York's strict gun laws.

I have a problem with that. It violates the 4th Amendment. Benjamin Franklin said it best. He who would sacrifice essential liberties for temporary security deserve neither.

So, the gun was just hanging out on the corner, eh? Then without warning the gun jumped out of its holster and shot the woman, eh? It’s the human that pulled the trigger. It’s the humans that are out of control. Address the human factor and you'll solve this.

For many criminals, prison isn't much of a deterrent. In some cases the threat of death doesn't work. We have individuals out here who can't function in society. Individuals who are so far gone, that prison is the only place they can survive.
