The new requirements include:

Re-certification will be required every 3 years instead of the current 5 years
16 hours of classroom training
2 hours of live-fire training
Written exam with a score of at least 80%
Applicants would need to meet with ‘licensing officer’ for an interview
Provide names, ages and contact info for members of their household
Provide 4 references
Disclose current and past social media accounts so that the ‘licensing officer’ can review their content

There will also be a huge number of buildings and open space where the carrying of concealed weapons are prohibited. At least you will be able to drive down the street in your car with a concealed weapon, but little else outside your car.

All in the name to prevent deaths, just like the Abortion bans.

Of course, none of this will do a lick of good for reducing crime in NY. It will only inconvenience responsible law abiding gun owners. Making decent people pay for the sins of criminals is just plain evil no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

And like the last law, just about every one of those will be tossed out by the Courts.

The one part that may have a chance is the prohibition of where guns are allowed. There is already precedence for things such as Schools and Government buildings. But limiting where guns can be carried into private business is a bit more tricky.

So how about this one...

" the law defaults all private property as no-carry zones, unless the owner of that property has signage up allowing the carrying of concealed firearms."

So every single business in New York is carry prohibited unless there is big glowing sign outside saying "Please Carry In Here".

Most states require businesses to inform customers guns are not allowed in their stores. Not in NY state. They have to have an explicit sign that carry is allowed.

Un-freaking-credible

I am glad I don't live there. I couldn't ever meet those requirements. Four references? I don't even have three to fill out a job application.

Lots of people there will still have no gun rights.

I don't know what is with all of these lawmakers making restrictions and bans, rather on Abortion or with Guns. It just makes people feel that their freedom is under threat, and causes them to lash back.

Sounds like the legislature has intentionally and egregiously decided to violate the rights of the citizens of New York, clearly an exception to the qualified immunity protection they enjoy as public officials. People need to start suing members of the legislature personally and Federal civil rights charges should be levied as well. I am sick and tired of Democrats blatantly and proudly crapping all over the Constitution every chance they get.

Why do politicians waste their time thinking up ridiculous laws that will be thrown out in court?
