They've locked down(funny how that term came to be so common, and now people obey it); and cancelled fireworks on the 4th of July.
They even closed the beaches.
I'm 20 miles away, and even here it is dead quiet.
I will not allow domestic terrorism to alter my plans, now excuse me while I go have a beer; grill a few steaks and light some fuses.
While I try not to think about what a joke this country has become, and these poor victims simply trying to be normal again.
Here's the live coverage - this looked like a fairly nice section of Chicago - not urban.
It's 25 or 30 miles north of Chicago in one of the wealthiest areas of the country. The media is using Chicago because they know it will bring in the clicks and views.

It happened 26 miles north of downtown Chicago, in one of the wealthiest suburbs in the metro area.
Nowhere near the rough parts of town where you hear about most of the violence for inner-city Chicago.
Absolutely, I used to live in that area, and it's a very affluent area north on Chicago along the lake. My heart bleeds for this country and all these senseless mass shootings.
