Johnson does remind me of California's Newsom. Not only because both partied on while promoting lockdowns for others.

But, also because both seem oblivious to the consequences of policies they support on their citizens. Quite similar to biden, in that way.

About time he stepped down like a clown. Looked like a bum anyways.

He was a clown before he was elected -- why did people think that would change

It wasn't partygate that finished Boris Johnson.

It was the Chris Pincher affair.

Chris Pincher was accused of sexual assault against other men.

Boris claimed he didn't know about these allegations whilst Foreign Secretary, and later as PM made Pincher a Chief Whip, which is someone that looks after MP's welfare and makes sure they toe the party line.

However more recent sexual assault allegations came out about Chris Pincher, and it turned out Johnson knew about the previous allegations and had quipped at the time 'Pincher by name, Pincher by nature'.

It was this lie that has bought down Boris Johnson, as he had already survived Partygate.

Boris Johnson resigns: Five things that led to the PM's downfall - BBC News

In terms of parties the Labour leader Keir Starmer and Deputy Leader Angela Rayner may also soon have to resign in relation to 'Beergate', and it seems Durham Constabulary have an alleged witness who is prepared to testify in Court.

So there could well be leadership battles in both main political parties.

At least Borris has the mental capacity to step down. Wish biden did.

Yup -- never said the parties were the 'cause' -- just commented on the statement implying he didn't party.

Apparently the favourite with Conservative party members is the current UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.

Other in the running include Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Tom Tugendhat may also be in the running, whilst less popular candidates include Jeremy Hunt, Rishi Sunak, Steve Baker Sajid Javid, Nadhim Zahawi, Michael Gove, Suella Braverman etc

The favourites amongst Conservative Party right wing Brexiteer MP's are Steve Baker and Penny Mordaunt, although I think they could be persuaded to back the current Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.

However Conservative leadership battles are famously Machiavellian, so we will just have to wait and see.

Boris Johnson may also wish to publicly back one of the candidates, and he remains a Member of Parliament.

The UK's Trump is going away. Good riddance. The world is changing for the better.

It is beyond my understanding how political leaders can be so absolutely clueless. Absolutely mind-boggling.
