BS... it's absolutely different, unless your some social activist.

To my knowledge there are no segregated public schools.

Bullies fall into the category where the resource office comes into play... at least in my school system. If bullies are 'tolerated' or not dealt with, that is the school failing to uphold moral values, rules and laws.... which are covered by discriminatory harassment, which is covered under federal civil rights laws.

Instilling morality that is the "Six Pillars" include trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship is appropriate. Example of indoctrination is teaching children that America was founded on systemic racism.

This is crazy.

"Man on the street" quizzes are always the best. Full of humor and "are people really that stupid?"

Thankfully in this case, that's what this is. It's not some parent complaining to a school board - which would be equally stupid.

You just contradicted your own argument, very precisely and neatly.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, is slavery bad? Of course it is. Are Nazis bad? Of course they are.
are pedophiles bad? Or should we seek to understand and accept them?

is declaring or a sexual preference or gender preference for the purposes of getting attention bad? Is promoting it?

Is human slavery wrong? Sure. Is it a stain on our nation's overall history? Sure. Were we unique? No. Does slavery still exist? Yes.

you're up in arms because you've allowed yourself to be led to believe there's any widespread effort to deny the existence of slavery, or to position it as a good thing for Blacks.

Sometimes those man on the streets interviews are pretty strange. I wonder if they are edited down to make people look stupid or what.

Texas. For some reason, a board of 9 people in charge of curriculum updates said "involuntary relocation" is what should be taught to 2nd graders as social studies. It was rejected by the State board.

The real facts that should be taught about slavery:

- North America only represented 3% of the entire slave trade, meaning 97% of slaves landed into the Caribbean, Central and South America.
- Over the course 341 years of the slave trade 310k were imported into North America, 40% of this number came from the Caribbean.
- The founding of the USA was the Declaration that "All men should be created equal". The colonies first needed to unite to fight off the British, then determine its laws, on what is right and wrong which included slavery. The USA needed to incorporate slave owned states to be a nation.
- 1.6% of the entire population owned slave, 98.4% of all Americans did not own slaves.
- 5% of the entire White American male population died in a war, fighting, which ended slavery.

As long as you don't belabor the point that effectively white people were the slave owners in the United States. You stay away from that issue and they are good.

To point out that White people were the slave owners is where "fact" becomes "opinion"...you see.
oh, being from the South and a "rightie", and a white one at that, I don't deign to try and claim the "Democrats" of 1865 in the country or even 1965 in the South are the same as the Democrat Party today.

However, it would be accurate to teach slavery in America as not a purely only in America, white and Black, or South vs rest of country issue.
