Typical Liberal mentality. When the rules don't go your way...change the rules. The LA County Sheriff Villanueva is up for re-election in November, and apparently, the Board of Supervisors don't trust that the election will go their way.

LA County leaders considering seeking power to remove sheriff

They don't mention the current sheriff by name, but they are going after Villanueva. He has been a constant thorn in their sides, especially when he thumbed his nose at them totally ignoring the vaccine mandates.

If this resolution gets approved on the ballot and he gets re-elected. The Board could effectively nullify the election by voting to get rid of him, even though he just won re-election.

They have been after him since he was the outsider, a "mere" Lieutenant who won the election making the previous Sheriff a former police chief of the second largest city in the county a one term Sheriff. FOX entertainment even had a short lived series, Deputy, about an unexpected middle ranked deputy becoming a Sheriff and put Sheriff Villanueva's words in their title characters mouth, meanwhile the politicians tried to cut him off at every opportunity. Only they hired a White actor instead of a Latinx and had him married to a Latina American.

Well, we already have the Recall ability, which buttock-hurt conservatives have abused over and over (usually unsuccessfully) because we-lost-no-fair, so this doesn't seem so far out of line. If we can put recalling politicians to the vote, why not put recalling the sheriff (also.an elected position) to the vote? It only makes sense.

Just to be clear, this is not about a recall. It is the Board of Supervisors asking for the power to remove the sheriff without voter approval.

In order for the BOS to get this power, they have to amend the County Charter which requires voter approval. The item on the ballot would amend the charter to give them this power. If they are given this power, they could remove the sheriff if 4 of the 5 supervisors agree.

If anyone is buttock-hurt it appears to be the democrats on the Board of Superviors who are fearful that the voters will vote for a more Conservative Sheriff.

It's crazy that a bunch of elected county officials (supervisors) can "fired" a dutiful elected county official (sheriff) simply because that official doesn't lockstep with other officials.

Yeah, this certainly will not lead to corruption...not at all

The sheriff is getting things done to improve LA which is against the BOS new world order plan. They’ve despised him from his first day. He’s making them all look embarrassingly bad so must GO!!
