I lived in a few places in Europe. Electricity bills where as much as it would cost to rent a house in a small city in the USA. The thing that made me laugh was in Holland you could enroll in green energy. Just check the green box and your bill would almost double. The electricity all comes from the same place.

I don't understand why the west is all in on Ukraine, the most corrupt country in the world, to the point where they do such damage to their own countries and citizens. I've tried to make sense of it all but I can't

To throw a monkey wrench into Putin's plans to get the old SSR band back together.

The German media should make a point this winter of going around to all the eco-groups and talking heads that pushed to shut down nuclear and ask them for a follow-up interview.

I just read where Ukraine, who has plenty of nuclear power, offered to provide power to Germany for use to assist in the move away from Russian sources.

The German economy is in tatters. A recent headline says “German Industries Could Collapse Due to Russia Natural Gas Supply Cutbacks.” Germany is now described as “the sick man of Europe.” Things are getting so desperate that the Germans are now considering rationing gas for their major industries to keep the lights on

What happened?
*Germany moved away from Nuclear and fossil fuels except those produced in Russia
*Germany scoffed when Trump said, in 2018, that Germany would rue the day they built pipelines to Russia
*Ever the contrarian, she aligned Germany with rogue and militaristic regimes in Russia, China, and Iran
*She refused to pony up the 4% of GDP that Germany owed NATO for Europe’s defenses, and she bristled when Trump demanded it.........

Perhaps if the Germans and Europeans had heeded Trump’s advice, the debacle of Ukraine wouldn’t have happened.

The global economy is in tatters after the pandemic.

What specific Trump advice would have stopped Putin from wanting to invade Ukraine.

How much say or influence did the EU have over Germany and others when they made these types of energy decisions?

But in the end it is still a very risky all eggs in the same basket strategy.

The Germans have a different outlook to other parts of Europe.

In France, they are moving towards more nuclear power, whilst defence spending is now set to exceed the NATO 2%.

In Britain, a new leader will be announced tomorrow, and Boris Johnson is set to stand down on Tuesday.

The favourite to win according to numerous polls is is Liz Truss, who not only wants more nuclear power plants but also support fracking for gas.

Truss is set to announce how she will deal with the energy crisis and energy poverty within her first week of office.

Truss is also committed to moving British defence spending from over 2% to 3% in coming years.

In terms of other parts of Europe, the Southern European Mediterranean countries tend to have less severe winters, and they have different energy mixes and needs when compared to Germany and Northern Europe.

The Nordic countries also tend to have lower populations, and have gas and oil resources.

So it's a mixed bag in Europe, and not everyone agrees with Germany or the EU, with the Polish even refusing to stop coal production, and having EU fines imposed on them.

The global warming loons will never allow that to happen.

No, far from it. It is tied to the ignorance of the leadership of Germany-only. They shut down their cleanest, greenist and most reliable sources of energy-nuclear-out of ignorance and pandering. They shut down their own coal industry. They "replaced" these sources with green-energy pipe-dreams, and when those failed to pan out, they purchased electricity from other countries-until they could build NG pipelines from Russia-in turn increasing CO2 emissions... Not a lot of intelligence in their leadership.
