Los Angeles DA Gascon is shutting down the unit that notifies victims of upcoming parole hearings saying it triggers them.

https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/0...role-hearings/

Probably doesn't want reminders that there were/are actual victims of crime committed by criminals.

You just cannot make this stuff up.
The leftists/progressives continue to dismantle every aspect of common sense and normalcy that exists, where they have control.
Then when things go to hell, they look to blame everyone but themselves.

When are they going to get rid of this leftist lunatic DA?

It triggers the victims or the criminal? I'd say the last thing a criminal wants is to have his victim sitting there staring back at him during a parole hearing.

It sounds like this DA is thinking that the presence of victims in the court room will remind the judge that there were in fact victims that were hurt by the prisoners criminal actions.

Why doesn't CA just stop arresting people and putting them in prison? It seems that they want to move society to this but it sounds more like they are angling for a dystopian future like the movie "Escape from LA".

What is it with Democrats that put the criminals first while pushing the victims aside and forgetting about them?

This Gascon fellow is having a lot of fun using his position as a platform to troll the nation with. He's good at it, you gotta give him that much.

He says he plans to shut down the unit by the end of the year. I guess he is expecting he will still be in office by then.

The Parole Unit, also known as the "Lifer Unit," will be disbanded by the end of the year. The move comes after Gascon has banned prosecutors from attending parole hearings.
So first it was keeping the prosecutors from attending, now makes it harder for victims to know it is coming up.

And people wonder how these people are getting released on parole.

Hopefully, the people of LA wake up and actually do boot his rear out of office. Perhaps the people in SF will take him back.

Wow, we really do live in a clown world. I really try to under stand the type of thinking people like this do, and just don't get it. Either I have a mental illness, or they do.

It is not you, unless you vote for modern day Democrats. The party your grandparents and parents knew is long gone.
Now the kooks who were always on the fringe in the past, are running the asylum

Wow, so Gascon is removing any sort of advocacy from the state or the victim with regards to the crime, it's lasting impacts or even things like if they've forgiven the guy or if he's apologized etc.

Basically a one-sided parole hearing.

same here, i always try to understand both sides and maintain objectivity. Clearly this benefits the criminal and not the victim. furthermore, who is he to feel the need to shield victims? what a joke.
