You folks realize there is a very high probability that mom and daughter are both also illegal immigrants, right? If so there would be strong motivation to avoid the scrutiny of getting an abortion on a 10-year old in Ohio would entail.
The other thing to consider in the discussion of why the child was taken to Indiana instead of staying in Ohio is that the Indiana doctor is considered an expert in her field. If I were dealing with a pregnant 10-year old needing an abortion I would want the most skilled practitioner I could find and I would want it done in a hospital instead of just a clinic.

Yes, that's true. But was it clear at the time, before he made this statement? Again, the word "rape" does not appear in the abortion law. At least, not that I have been able to find. Can you not understand why people might have been genuinely confused? I can.
The abortion didn't need to be based on rape. It was legal based on threat to maternal health.
Not if an MD signed off on it, which any competent doctor would do. It's quite well-known that pre-teen pregnancies have very high maternal and infant mortality rates.
The MD in OH seems to have referred them to IN rather than "signing off on it".
On a side issue, it says the original doctor who broke the story had a HIPAA violation filed against her by her employer. But, to be fair, I don't see how this is a HIPAA violation since the girl's identity was never disclosed.
And here is another state's governor, with similar laws saying the abortion would be illegal.
Maybe the mom was watching CNN that Saturday morning and got scared. I sure did! https://www.thewrap.com/south-dakota...-abortion-law/

Of course she did.
Maybe she checked with her lawyer first.
