So they're apparently totally a-okay with school children reading this trash yet when brought up to the supposed "adults" they get all angry and upset?? If they think it's all fine why should they care???
In terms of Lucky it's also controversial because in November 2021, Anthony Broadwater was officially exonerated by a New York Supreme Court justice, who determined there had been serious issues with the original conviction.
Broadwater was convicted of rape and sodomy, and sentenced to eight to 25 years in prison.
Broadwater ultimately served 16 years in prison, maintaining his innocence throughout.
Broadwater, was incorrectly identified as the perpetrator by Sebold (and via a faulty method of hair analysis).
Scribner, the publisher of Lucky, released a statement following Broadwater’s exoneration that distribution of all formats of the book would cease while Sebold and the publisher determined how to revise the work.
Alice Sebold's most famous novel is 'The Lovely Bones', which was made in to the film of the same name.
As for the other two, books they just sound like nonsense and not the type of serious books you would study in relation to an English Literature course or exam.
Triangles has been criticised for being more soap opera than art, whilst Sarah J. Maas's work has been criticised for being little more than a poorly written and repetitive fantasy sex-romp.
The guy doesn't have to even read the contents out, as everyone now knows the injustice now associated with 'Lucky', and the wrongful conviction of a black man, so I would be surprised if the books remains on many BLM liberal type bookshelves.
Whilst in terms of the other two authors just read some of the reviews.

The Left really hasn't changed. They are Progressives that continually push the norms of our society.
The Right really hasn't change. They are Conservatives that continually try to hold onto the norms of our society.
The Progressives are now targeting the children with their far Left crap such as Drag Queen story hour and in this case books with graphic accounts of rape for young teens.
Many of us are upset that they are targeting the children with the sex ed, gender questioning, teaching the boys how to "tuck" and teaching the girls to bind their breasts.
This is happening today, what are they going to be doing to the kids tomorrow?

Fake outrage, the father was clearly explained the reason as mention in the OP's link
"The board member continued: 'There are federal and state laws that prohibit you from saying the things that you're getting out to say on television. There are state laws that prohibit in federal communications laws that prohibit you from publishing these things to a child. You don't have the ability at this point to determine who's watching the television show. And for you to say, "everybody cover your ears" just doesn't cut it.'"
Face it he has an axe to grind "Friedman says his own son was badly affected by public schools in New York", this isn't New York and the article does not mention what grade level these books are available. I hope he realizes that his child and all the others are exposed to far worse online with their smart phones, wonder if he bothers to check that or maybe his child has none...
If the material in the book is too obscene to be read in a school board meeting it’s too obscene to be in public school classrooms and school libraries. Can the schools not find any other books for their students?

simple enough for even a leftist to understand. at least one would think...

Nope. There was another thread about another book that had graphic images of oral sex among other things It was a graphic novel and so many defended it being in schools. They considered not having it in schools a book ban even though teens who wanted to read it could find it elsewhere.

The article makes no mention of the book being used in the classrooms and school libraries are for everyone and provide grade appropriate materials across a broad range of topics. He has the right to challenge a book in the collection but he doesn't have the right to remove it for everyone, just his own child.
FCC regulations are rather old fashioned in many ways compared to what most people watch on cable/streaming shows anyway but those are the rules that the board must comply with.

I know. The article I shared referenced another pornographic book in school libraries that liberals seem to support being in school libraries. Why must public schools funded by taxpayers meant to educate kids have pornographic material in their libraries?
