An IndyStar analysis of Columbus police reports filed since May 9 found 50 reports of rape or sexual abuse involving a girl age 15 or younger. That number may also be underreported because of restrictions on public access to public records related to allegations initiated by mandated reporters. The report involving the 10-year-old girl falls into that category.
50 reports of rape or sexual abuse involving girls 15 years and younger in Columbus over just the past two months!!!! I certainly hope that was an error in reporting. It also makes me wonder if this rapist has other young victims.
So, I've lost track. Has the forum writ large accepted the story as true because it implicates an illegal immigrant or is it still of the general view that the story is a hoax because it is an example of how overly restrictive abortion laws can be harmful to young kids?

Apparently some concrete information has slowly emerged regarding the situation (the arrest of an offender, for one) and outlets like WAPO now find the story to be credible. WAPO was originally concerned of the accuracy of the story given the single source…and the fact the single source now wasn’t talking.
Not sure you need to add the illegal immigrant angle to it except to demonstrate the dangers of improperly guarded border and improperly enforced immigration laws and the fact they can be harmful to young kids.

I am simply venting my frustration that over the last few weeks there has been post after post saying there is no way that the story was true, but the moment there was an aspect that an illegal immigrant was responsible suddenly the story seemed to gain more credence.
I don't recall having posted about this story previously because I had no sense as to whether it was true or not and a sense that it did seem to be a situation where a healthy element of skepticism was warranted. But to see such a change in the general posts in the forum based on the fact that the story might serve another purpose seemed worthy of posing a question.
Assuming this story is true, the saddest fact is that the 10 year old little girl is being used as a pawn to make a political statement regarding abortion. Who is looking out for her best interests? No one.
I believe almost all reasonable people would agree that a 10 year old should not be forced to carry a baby to term, but using her dire situation as a political football is almost as bad.

Her identity is confidential as it should be but the fact that she was put in a position to leave her state to get an abortion is absurd, certainly Ohio is not looking out for her best interests since there is no exception for rape.
Yes reasonable people should agree that forcing a 10 year old to carry full term is wrong, so why doesn't Ohio amend the law.
This will only get worse for other young girls in the same situation.
