If Beta had any scruples at all he would give that money back and give back any and all money from outside the state of Texas including dark money from overseas.
If he wants to govern Texas he should walk the walk and take only local money.
But there's that word "scruples". Of which no democrat has any.
So? Greg Abbott received $1 million from Javaid Anwar, President of Midland Energy, and 680k from Gary Martin, president of Falcon Bay Energy. Why isn't that big news?
because none of those people are leftist maniacs bent on destroying the country?

in a sane world, an endorsement / donation from soros would be the kiss of death for any candidacy, given his previous horrific track record..
Abortion to id the elephant in the room. Now, one may go off and counter that statement in a whole bunch of different ways but one has to remember one primary thing.......it is what the women voters believe that counts.

and not every woman is pro-abortion…and here is a shocker, some are actually intelligent enough to understand the Supreme Court opinion and how the state legislature works.

I didn't say that there were........but there are a lot of very pi**ed off women right now who are saying to the state legislature to keep out of their uterus and they are probably ready to toss the Republicans out.

Right or wrong, it is what the voter believes.
yes, they should practice their constitutional rights and contact their state legislatures if they disagree with a particular state law. the thing is, there are a lot of women who agree with limiting abortion. just because someone is a woman, doesn’t automatically mean she feels a certain way. we just don’t shout it from the rooftops.
I live in a red state and my blue state sister asked me how I felt about my states abortion laws, and I responded that I’ve lived my entire life not obsessing over the issue of abortion and if I happen to need one I would put on my big girl pants and take care of what I needed to take care of. The bigger picture for me is the future of this country and how off the rails we are going with the left agenda in areas like China, energy, economy, and government overreach. so although i disagree with limiting abortion, there is much bigger threats out there and Republicans although not perfect are the only ones who ***might*** do something towards fixing this mess. the democrats don’t deserve my vote for one issue.
Maybe Francis O'Rourke can show up on his skateboard and do some kickflips to impress Texans. Nothing is cooler than seeing a 50 something year old man do that.

I do not and will not get into a discussion over the "right" and "wrong" arguments of abortion but I am only commenting on the issue taken with the "controlling women" remark. I am now hearing how the republicans of Texas are talking about restricting a woman's right to travel if they suspect it is for an abortion.
Talk about loss of freedom. When will they spy on Texans who go out of state to OK or LA (for example) to gamble in the casinos and arrest them at the state line upon re-entering Texas?
Actually, thinking about all of this, what a Pandora's box!
I've voted R all my life and no way in hell would I ever vote D for anything. I'm as conservative as they come or so I always thought. I'm a grown person who doesn't see every aspect of life as having to be political but yet this seems to be where our country is at. I'm sick to death of it all. Sick of the know-it-all's who believe they are the supreme being to tell everyone else and their dog how to take a sh*t. So self-righteous, so full of themselves that they are miserable and make everyone else miserable to the tune of making life in general miserable. They only create more problems, never any solutions.
Damn, I also heard the R's were considering making birth control illegal. Rumor or fact, at this point nothing would surprise me. Let me remind all of you who cannot comprehend the context of my post due maybe to speed reading or otherwise, I am a member of the Republican Party and have been all of my eligible-to-vote-life which has been many years. Yes, I am criticizing my own political party. As of now, I am allowed to do so. Tomorrow? Who knows? I also know this will hurt in the polls this fall and this is disturbing to me as well. We need the R's (even with their many flaws) in to preserve this country. Just saying before you attack me and call me a liberal Dem, please re-read the post. I am not a Dem nor a liberal.
I was reading about the world's population growth the other day. Seems like India is going to overtake China and the US is 3rd in the bunch. I just had to laugh although there is nothing funny about any of this, but to think about all those book educated political leaders in the countries running around with their heads up their pompous asses, making law after law, feeling so smug with themselves and haven't even the foresight to wonder how the earth is going to feed and water the trillions of stupid little people jammed elbow to elbow on it. Anyone else see the irony?
I don't even care anymore. I pray I am dead before it all hits the fan.
You said "the thing is, there are a lot of women who agree with limiting abortion. just because someone is a woman, doesn’t automatically mean she feels a certain way. we just don’t shout it from the rooftops." Well, hell I sure don't! I made the mistake of voicing my views about the abortion law in Texas on this forum and immediately realized what a mistake that was. I was automatically branded a liberal Democrat lol. That could not have been more incorrect. Did anyone just assume I had a mind of my own outside of politics and could make a decision based on choice not dictated to me by a forum of overzealous crazies and a political agenda made of (basically almost, if not all) corrupt politicians.
Kristina, you also said " I’ve lived my entire life not obsessing over the issue of abortion and if I happen to need one I would put on my big girl pants and take care of what I needed to take care of". I'm pretty sure the majority of us don't spend out time obsessing of the abortion issue (why should we) which in my opinion makes us more normal than abnormal for whatever that's worth anymore. But when you say "if I happen to need one I would put on my big girl pants and take care of what I needed to take care of", it made me curious. How would you go about that in the state of Texas right now?
