imagine you have no "legal tender". How would you feel about that?
I use credit cards for most purchases, online banking, and very little cash. But the idea of digital currency troubles me. The government issues it and thus can take it back with a "click" of a mouse. Not sure I like that with out some safe guards against an ever increasingly intrusive government. One poster recent said they were governed by "competent socialist's". Really? is there such a thing?
Read this... Government white paper on digital currencies from Fed's BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM Promotes consumer protection and community development through consumer-focused supervision and examination… and administration of consumer laws and regulations. i. e. government oversight and control.
Now imagine Maxine Watters in charge of digital currency oversight.
I was always under the impression that digital currency was to eliminate government regulations and financial institutions from financial transactions. Looks like Joe has someone whispering in his ear about losing monetary control, ain't gonna have any of that... right?
Ari Redbord, Head of Legal and Government Affairs at TRM Labs, described the crux of the Order as a way to coordinate the activities of the U.S. Government around crypto. “The executive order is really a call for coordination - playing quarterback to ensure that regulators are working together to feed into a clear and consistent framework for crypto regulation rather than engage in disparate work streams. The real work begins now,” says Redford.
I don't like the idea at all. They have already shown they can regulate the supply chains, and if one can control whether or not someone eats, they have achieved control. Digital currency would be thousands of times worse for those that want to maintain their freedoms.
Well, I guess there is always the barter system. Better learn some skills for the years ahead. We are moving to 3rd world standards, so bartering would not be a stretch.

That's exactly the direction I would go. Screw digital currency. Some states have legalized gold as currency (mine has). So there is that route as well--gold, silver, platinum, and various barter items.
Personally, I have cut way, way back on using debit cards. I almost don't use them at all. I kicked credit cards about ten years ago. It seems that as the world "progresses," I see it as just the opposite of progress. My opinion is that we are running down the road that leads to hell on SO MANY issues.
Barter. Do what they did in the past...I'll paint your house if you fix my plumbing. I'll mow your lawn if you walk my dogs daily. That avoids the middle man that takes $ away from you. Of course that requires people to actually have skills, instead of degrees in social studies.
Avoid the man where you can, preserve your wealth. Government produces nothing, destroys wealth, always has, always will.
(What are all those bureaucrats doing to create wealth creation? Nothing.)
Whoever controls the technology controls the flow of money.
That ^^^, right there.
