If it was rhetoric that changed lifestyles --- there would be a whole lot of stuff that would or would not have happened.
Not sure why you are in denial. It's global, and has shifted the trajectories of corporations, and started new ones. Our own POTUS is on record stating it many times.
GM is making the difficult decisions today to prepare for a future of electric and driverless vehicles. The company announced plans on Monday to cut 15% of its salaried workforce and shut five North American facilities. The moves will save GM about $6 billion a year by 2020 – money it can use to invest in the future.
It was scary times back then, glad i made it through.
It still baffles me that people still try to deny that this shift is causing job losses.
According to it/ sources, the cuts are intended to cut costs and intensify its focus on EV. Cuts are expected amongst salaried workforce as well as the Ford Blue Unit created for EV.
Ford has about 88,000 employees in the US.

Obama sent American jobs to other countries and no doubt was rewarded financially, and rest assured, Obiden and Pelosi will be compensated substantially while Americans struggle to put food on the table. I hope true Americans, not the elitist wake up on Election Day.
This also has more to do with Ford accommodating European markets which are demanding EVs or hybrids for their markets by 2030. Ford is a global company and has been moving in this direction for some time.
That is what the Ford Mach-E and Ford Electric Truck are all about.

Ford Mustang
Ford Explorer
For Expedition
All other models can be Electric, and even several I listed could be Hybrid for American markets as needed.

Easier said, then done. It's all about cost, and it costs to parallel path EV and ICE vehicle development. That is why the electric only companies have an advantage , and can be profitable , quicker (think Tesla) , all their focus, and revenue is on EV development.
They are losing money on EV's so they have to cut other areas of production to make up the difference.
As Erie likes to say: Bingo
