Honestly, the average American *feels* how the economy is doing every time they buy gas, food, pay rent, get their paycheck etc.
You can tell them all kinds of stories about how it's Krogers fault or Putin's fault or that there no inflation, it's temporary.
You can tell them there is no recession.
What will that do to average Americans that aren't beholden to one party or another? It will make them mad because nobody likes getting BS'd in tough times. That's lying not leadership and they see right through it.
Frankly, the Biden administration is making things worse with these games. Denial is not a good strategy.
I'm going to repeat what I posted in beach43ofus's thread in the elections section, because there's a good chance all kinds of weird stuff will be released by the BEA on Thursday and people will be scratching their heads if they don't know what's going on beforehand ...
Extra caution needs to be made when forecasting GDP growth for Q2, because in the Q2 GDP release the BEA does their annual benchmark revisions. When they do that all sorts of wacky changes can suddenly appear not only for the most recent quarter but for prior quarters as well.
In addition, it’s important to recognize that once a year the government goes back and revises all the GDP data for the past several years. That happens in July, including with the report arriving this Thursday. Given the strength in jobs and industrial production, it wouldn’t surprise us at all if Q1 is eventually revised positive.
In the meantime, we are forecasting growth at a +0.5% annual rate in Q2. Here’s how we get there ...
"How food shortages are helping America's waistlines."
I still haven't seen those food shortages. Really not sure you want to use a bad conspiracy to make fun of CNN's bad news coverage, kinda invokes irony.

I think swing voters are use to these kinds of games from both parties. And I think swing voters ignore them for the most part.
I think swing voters are swing voters because they listen more closer to what candidates are saying other than just the finger pointing.
I suspect the midterms will be played out as everyone anticipates, with Republicans making gains in the House & Senate. Way too early to predict 2024
