Get ready for 2023... We created so much inflation that the only thing that will save you now is more free money, hurray! At the rate things are going, AOC will be running the federal reserve by 2024

Since before Obama I saw things getting worse and beefed up my reserves.
Glad I did, having drawn from it lately.
I am not easily lulled into a false sense of security, though I depend on S S to some degree( having paid into it 50 years), I figure if it folds there will be a lot of others in the same boat. Adjustments will have to be made.
Doing nothing will put you at the mercy of the government which in fact is behind the world depopulation agenda.
I don't relish the idea of having to be homeless again but I'm not afraid of it either. God watches over me, and I've lived far longer than I had expected.
If my home burns down I'll live in the barn and if the barn burns down I'll live in my camper and if I loose the camper all live in the truck and if I loose the truck I'll live in my tent and if I lose the tent I can live in a cave or a culvert.
I have camped in snow, it's not great but it's doable, I much prefer colder weather to heat any day.
I venture to say I own more "Stuff" than most people, due to my wide interests and people giving me their cast-offs and my inheritances as well. I am accustomed to making do with what I have.
I advise my friends to get with gardening and storing all the water they can along with canned foods as well as alternate means of cooking.
As unstable as this government is , you can't trust them.

Maybe if Congress didn't keep raiding SS it would be solvent for years to come.

Probably should eliminate the maximum income limit as well. Pay your 7% (or whatever it is) regardless of your income. But yes, stop raiding it. I think it's illegal but they do it anyway.

They need to do that for everyone else. If they plan on keeping prices high, multiply peoples savings by 1.1

Some might, but of course nothing is guaranteed. The COL adjustments are one of the great things about SS. Not great money by any means, but mostly guaranteed despite any economic downturns. In 2008 not one SS recipient lost a dime.

A $2000/mo SS check is like a $480K annuity paying 5%.

You're right... Congress will likely vote themselves a hefty raise. The rest of us have bottomless pockets, so we are more than happy to pitch in... But no matter what, we can be certain they will never allow themselves to run out of other people's money...

Maybe broadly speaking 'other people's money', but they don't need taxpayer money when they/we have the Fed.

there's a formula for establishing these COLAS for SS and federal retirements. They don't draw the number out of a hat.
