So people who default on their taxes should be allowed to get away with it -- while us law abiding citizens shoulder their burden.
the irs already goes after those people. they need additional resources to audit you and everyone you know. you won’t be exempt. they will fond something to fine you with. pay or go to jail.
The Pubs not pushing back on the two-tiered legal system the Libs have installed, and continue to install, is one reason why Trump got elected...many Americans feel like they have nobody in DC watching out for them.
I hope the new IRS agents start with all the polititicans first, & gov't employees...they seems to be the worse tax cheats of them all.
Rather than more boots on the ground the IRS should invest in technology to enforce tax laws. Technology doesn't take vacation days and require other benefits. Never mind, after thinking this through the technology programming will be done by liberals so the cons are still screwed.

Haha, yup! I’m sure they’d bring in Google or Meta to assist and it would be biased toward selecting returns from anyone who isn’t a Democrat or Socialist.
I wasn’t officially audited (as far as I know?) but the IRS caught a minor mistake I made when I submitted my tax return a couple years ago, and I had to pay a couple hundred dollars including interest to resolve it. I didn’t talk to anyone in person, but was always curious to know if someone manually reviewed my return, or if somehow it got flagged in a system. It was an honest mistake on my part as I (unknowingly) missed a form associated with one of my investment accounts when I was preparing my return so of course I paid once I was made aware of the issue.

They have had the technology in place for years to spit out lists of people whose deductions are outside the averages in each category. These are the ones they need real live auditors to look at.

That was most likely an automated audit. You confirmed the error yourself. If you had found they were the ones to make a mistake, you could have called in to talk to a person about it to clear up the problem.
