Note that this only covers those with deeply held religious beliefs, not just those who didn't feel like it. Anyone rehired would still need to receive a religious exemption waiver.

It’s a start.

No one should be forced to choose between their work/school or a vaccination they don’t want.

Allowing religious exemptions were supposed to be the rules - and the rules were not followed... hence the lawsuit.

This company apparently had a policy of "No Religious Accommodations". That was their undoing and why there was no chance they would prevail.

However, the company is going to have an even harder time if it denies any exemption and decides to claim that the employee didn't show that their beliefs were held deeply enough.

This should also be a big wake-up call to any company that had similar policies.

Good for them! It's was just another way for the left to never let a crisis go to waste and now it's coming back to bite them.

Great to hear. Although, for those that lost their careers, it really isn't much. I feel bad for them.

They have 90 days after the judgment to rejoin the company if they so desire.

Health care workers who were fired for not getting a COVID shot have won a major victory. The Liberty Counsel has announced a “historic” $10.3 million settlement in the nation’s first-of-its-kind classwide lawsuit.

The class action settlement against NorthShore University HealthSystem is on behalf of more than 500 current and former health care workers who were unlawfully discriminated against and denied religious exemptions from the COVID shot mandate, according to the non-profit religious rights law firm.

As part of the settlement agreement, NorthShore will pay $10,337,500 to compensate hundreds of health care employees.

NorthShore will also change its unlawful “no religious accommodations” policy to make it consistent with the law, and to provide religious accommodations in every position across its numerous facilities. No position in any NorthShore facility will be considered off limits to unvaccinated employees with approved religious exemptions.

In addition, employees who were terminated because of their religious refusal of the COVID shots will be eligible for rehire if they apply within 90 days of final settlement approval by the court, and they will retain their previous seniority level.

Great news

Great news indeed.

Now let's apply it to every single citizen who did not want the jab, regardless of religious status.

Can anyone answer that?
Depends on the state. I know Florida made an opt out form for adults. https://www.floridahealth.gov/newsro...-forms.pr.html

For kids, the form used for school just states it goes against your bona fide religious beliefs. They are not allowed to ask questions.

We don’t personally have a church at this time and I know people who are not religious at all who have used the form for their kids. There is no proof of any kind needed aside from your word (you signing the paper).

Personal faith vs formal doctrine is a hot topic, that goes well beyond Covid vaccines. Off the top, it includes marriage licenses, cake baking, alcohol sales, service, work schedules, uniforms, hair and seats on a plane.

Few doctrines ban vaccines. Those that do tend to be small churches.

North Shore, like most hospital systems, mandated the Covid vaccine before the Federal mandate. Fewer than 3% of employees sought to use faith as an exemption.
