If China invades Taiwan, should the USA get involved? What do we have to lose - what does the world have to lose, if Twn falls under China rule? Should we try and stop China, or should we let it go?
i have a longtime friend who was originally from Taiwan and whose family is still there. I have been there myself and really loved it. This said no self defense treaty means to me we dont go to war for it. We could have had a treaty for decades back even when we were at our military height and China was still mostly third World Nation with Nukes. And we did not. We allowed the Sino American defense treaty to expire in 1980 and left it that way. Going to War with a nuclear power over somebody who we do not have a military defense treaty with would be ridiculous. Oh and least we forget we have no treaty with Ukraine either. People are insane.

Genuinely curious about this...
Nothing in the Constitution that says we should. Same with Ukraine.

This is pretty dicey situation, the president of South Korea was on vacation when Pelosi was in town,China is the largest trading partner of S Korea.
