Hi

If China invades Taiwan, should the USA get involved? What do we have to lose - what does the world have to lose, if Twn falls under China rule? Should we try and stop China, or should we let it go?

Genuinely curious about this...

Would Taiwan come to our aid if we were attacked?

There's your answer.

Biden and Pelosi both stated the US would defend Taiwan.

Taiwan straight. World trade is everything it seems. Easily something to go to war over, second to oil only.

i have a longtime friend who was originally from Taiwan and whose family is still there. I have been there myself and really loved it. This said no self defense treaty means to me we dont go to war for it. We could have had a treaty for decades back even when we were at our military height and China was still mostly third World Nation with Nukes. And we did not. We allowed the Sino American defense treaty to expire in 1980 and left it that way. Going to War with a nuclear power over somebody who we do not have a military defense treaty with would be ridiculous. Oh and least we forget we have no treaty with Ukraine either. People are insane.

China taking Taiwan would give a hostile nation control of most of our chip supply. It's an economic and national security threat.

We should give Taiwan the weapons to inflict damage themselves. Enough for every major city and the 3 Gorges dam.

Nothing in the Constitution that says we should. Same with Ukraine.

Pelosi used the word 'Ironclad',does she know most of our steel come from overseas?
This is pretty dicey situation, the president of South Korea was on vacation when Pelosi was in town,China is the largest trading partner of S Korea.
As for semiconductors, there are other manufacturers outside Taiwan which make semi conductors.
We just have to learn t o hold on to our appliances and cars longer.or do without some.
