The Republicans voting down a provision to keep Americans who have private insurance from paying more than $35 for insulin (a generic product that has been around forever yet is being used as extortion by pharma) shows that Republicans are not only party over country but party over people as well.

you sound like MSNBC.....LOL.....pick one little part of the whole...don't tell the whole story now

"The move was expected following a decision by the Senate parliamentarian, who determined earlier that the insulin provision was not compliant with the chamber's strict budget rules. Democrats need to comply with those rules to advance the legislation, called the Inflation Reduction Act, without any Republican votes.

The legislation, however, still includes a $35 copay cap on the price of insulin for people 65 and older on Medicare."

That was a cute STUNT the Democrats came up with.

The parliamentarian didn’t accept one portion of the bill, related to a requirement that drug companies pay rebates if they raise prices faster than inflation for Medicare and private insurance.

The rebate requirements will only apply to Medicare, and not the commercial market, a setback to Democrats’ efforts to limit drug prices more broadly. A push to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month met a similar fate: While the price cap won’t apply to insulin purchased through private insurance, it will apply to insulin bought through Medicare.

Democrats included the private cap in the bill text anyway, even though it didn’t comply with Senate rules, in order to force Republicans to object. Seven Republicans then joined all 50 members of the Democratic caucus to try to overrule the objection, short of the 60 required.

The Parliamentarian turned that insulin down, the Democrats pretended they didn’t & called for a vote on it.
As for the other drug prices under Medicare — none of it even kicks in for 4 years.
It’s all Election Kabuki Theater so they can claim they actually did something.

Beginning in 2026, the bill would for the first time empower Medicare to negotiate the prices of a limited set of drugs selected from among those that account for the biggest share of government expenditures. It would also cap out-of-pocket drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries at $2,000 a year, beginning in 2025, and starting next year mandate free vaccines for Medicare enrollees. Under the bill, subsidies enacted last year as part of the American Rescue Plan to help people buy health insurance through the Affordable Care Act would be extended for three years, through 2025, at a cost of $64 billion.

Extending the pumped up Poverty Levels to subsidize ObamaCare was a big deal for the Leftists.
All Amendments presented by Republicans were reject by the Biden Unity Party, including Title 42, which allows migrants to be turned away at the border without a chance to ask for asylum. The Biden administration has sought to end the policy. Our Border remains totally OPEN.

Of course the $7,500 for wealthy people to purchase .electric vehicles is still there with no Caps.

Bottom Line - it really only does 2 things NOW
1). Transfers Taxpayer funds to subsidize ObamaCare
2). Throws $430 BILLION dollars to the .Green New Deal
It would pay for some of those expensive cars IF any were available, and they mostly are not available.

Most of the other stuff kicks in at the end of this decade.

Worse still, not only does this bill direct $369 billion in handouts to climate change special interests, but it does so on the backs of the American taxpayer. To finance their socialist agenda, Democrats are supersizing the Internal Revenue Service with $80 billion (six times the agency’s annual budget) to create an army of 87,000 new enforcement agents to target Americans with as many as one million additional audits per year on taxpayers earning less than $200,000 – the same middle-class suffering the most from the skyrocketing inflation of Bidenomics.”
The IRS will now be larger than the Pentagon, State Dept, FBI and Border Patrol combined.

The correct title of the bill is "The Inflation Expansion Act of 2022".

Thanks for the link. I will withhold comment until I've had a chance to review but from what I've heard I fail to see how it is anti-inflationary. I do think we need to invest in combatting climate change, but I think it needs to be smart and balanced and I don't trust this to be that.
