Instead of hiring 77,000 new armed IRS agents to harass small taxpayers, why not 77,000 armed school guards? In case you don't know, the employment application for the new IRS agents told them they had to be willing to be armed and use deadly force if necessary. They have already bought thousands of guns for them and 700,000 rds of ammo.

Shouldn't each police car already be carrying this equipment etc, so when they arrive, they already have what they need?

Some thing is not adding up here.

Sheriffs are elected. As a political do something, a weapon is cheaper than picking up the benefits of a trooper on permanent guard duty

I believe that it is primarily for the school resource officer that's already on scene. It saves time for him not to go to the parking lot to retrieve his weapon/gear.

Where would the ARs be stored? In a central location of the school building? That could require some time to travel to if the resource officer happened to be at the periphery of the building, in which he could be closer to the parking lot.

I don't know the details, just reporting something that I read somewhere.

If he were closer to the parking lot when a shooting starts, he could retrieve a weapon from his car, couldn't he?

Or he could have a concealed handgun on his person which would make the most sense. Cars are not good places to store firearms anyway. Too easy to break into. Personally, this whole idea of storing firearms on school property strikes me as a recipe for more guns on the street in the hands of criminals.

If weapons were the root cause then everyone would be the PROBLEM, but they're not. 99.9999% of AR owners are law abiding people.

There are 20,000,000 AR's in this country and how many are used in the commission of a crime? Of all crimes committed with a firearm, only 2% are all rifles. There are almost 400,000,000 firearms... so do the math.

You are wrong in every sense of the word. Completely wrong and you'll never admit it or understand the problem. Your position is ideologically blind.
Then why don't other countries have the same problem. No one is saying that AR15's are the only problem but they are sure the weapon of choice in recent mass shootings. If you can't even pass laws regarding them and discussion about other guns is waste of time.

If you just STOP for a moment and try and UNDERSTAND firearms are not the problem your brain will see things differently. Doing the same thing (more regulations on firearms) over and over and expecting different results is what? Go ahead... say it.

other countries?

What about the middle east? how about the genocide in the former Yugoslavian countries? What's happening in Ukraine? is that better?

The Swiss are well armed... so are the Fins. In Finland the levels of gun ownership are indeed very similar to the U.S. About 36, 35 percent of households have a firearm as in Switzerland and many other countries.

Most shootings are with handguns and must pass a background check to own one... LEGALLY. Do the bad guys care? that's almost rhetorical. In NY busted with a hand gun, felon biusted with a hand gun, out the next day. How is that helping? We have a problem Houston. Bad guys ARE the problem. Not legal firearm ownership.

Felon with a gun... mandatory sentences, not a year in jail, but substantial time. Stop and frisk... it works. You walk like thug, act like a thug, must be a thug. Stop and frisk.

I live in NC. Just shows me why we are ranked 39 in quality of education.

More guns to solve what is becoming a problem in NC.
