"When you think about this country, a country that has always been open to those who are fleeing persecution and other intolerable conditions, we've always welcomed that," Adams said. "This governor is not doing that in Texas, but we are going to send the right message, the right tone, of being here for these families."

They wouldn't because they aren't pawns in a two party political game.

They are people.

And because volunteer groups are stepping up, getting shelter, and moving the ones who didn't want to go to NYC in the first place.

But they could. It's political games only.

Do Democrats take classes in how to achieve the highest level of hypocrisy? Every single day they seem to outdo themselves in this regard.

Mayor Adams, perhaps you should have a chat with Oatmeal and Kampala about their border policy?

Not against their own will.

Why on earth would illegals go back to the border, where they could be arrested and deported again?

The entire reason this thing works is because they want to get as far into America, and away from the border, as they can. The fact that it’s major cities like DC and NYC only makes it’s that more appealing.

These illegals could easily blend in as some random “Dominican” janitor or cook, or bodega worker.

so you bring up the possibility, complete with an 'uh oh!' while acknowledging it won't happen

There is nothing hypocritical about it.

Adams is criticizing Abbot rounding up a bunch of migrants, with no consideration of where there final destination should be.

Many of the migrants have families here that they could stay with while they wait for their cases to be processed. Why not 'bus' them to their final destination, instead of playing childish revenge games saying I'll get back at the Democrats by giving them all the migrants.

The migrants then have to be shipped out AGAIN.

It's for political games and show and it is inefficient, silly and does nothing to change border policy.

That doesn’t mean they want to get bussed back to Texas.

There’s a very large Hispanic population in NYC.

They’re in NYC, if they don’t like it, there’s plenty of other cities they can now reach via a greyhound. None of which are back in Texas.

What Final Destination? If they are Illegal the only destination should be Back before they illegally entered the Country.

You don't get to cry about not getting a free ticket to wherever you want after breaking in.
They should be happy to be in NYC of all places.

Actually, a better compromise should be to just go a few more miles and drop them off in Canada.
We should All agree on that. NYers included.
