II suggest using the laws as written that affords the accused with due process, presumption of innocence, burden of proof on the accuser, and the defendant in full possession of their both their natural individual rights and all the civil liberties guaranteed by the US Constitution.
Trump has yet to be charged with a crime. Trump has yet to be afforded any sort of due process. Trump has yet to be able to confront witnesses, see ALL evidence being used against him, cross examine those who speak against him, etc. No judge has been assigned to ensure Trump's civil liberties are being upheld and no prosecutorial misconduct is occurring. No vetted and approved jury of his peers is evaluating the prosecution's case to determine if the prosecution has met a burden of proof beyond reasonable doubt.
Nope. All that is happening is targeted, specific political harassment meant for exactly one thing - keep him away from the 2024 election.
You can hold a sitting president accountable. It's called impeachment. It affords due process and requires all that burden of proof, innocent until proven guilty as decided by a jury (the Senate) stuff. You hold an ex-President accountable similarly --> charge, prosecute, prove guilt, sentence. They haven't even charged him.
Now I know here is where you excuse their Gestapo/RMVP tactics by saying "still gathering teh evidencez, then teh chargez!!" nonsense, but we all know they are using their pointless searches for evidence that they know full well does not exist simply to keep him under suspicion and hopefully indictment. They never need to actually prosecute him...just indict, and in a way that the majority of the citizens thinks it was justice and not blatant political machination and totalitarianism.
They don't want him held accountable, or they'd charge him. They want him held unelectable, so they keep him targeted for endless investigation, harassment and political bullying.
And I call Poe's Law on you, because nobody is that naive in real life. No way.
So many words, but simply put. The warrant on his home changes nothing for his supporters, for his critics.
So it changes nothing. It seems to have united the Republican party in some strange way. Even Republicans who denounce the Big Lie are in support of Trump and saying he should run (Lindsey Graham).
At this point we should cut the FBI and CIA budgets in half. I’m tired of funding non essential workers.
Not just them, the entire lot. People cry and whine about why doesn't the USA have free health care or college like other first world countries, and the main reason is because the USA has such an overbloated government. Seriously, we got the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, NSA, DEA, US Marshals, DOD, DOJ, and probably another 90 agencies and God knows how many agents and administrations that work in each one. And all of this is exactly why we do not have free healthcare. Funny though, all them government agencies and politicians make damn sure they have free health care and pensions for life at our expense.

“The story says the National Archives found the documents had classification markings on them. That doesn’t mean that they were not declassified. All previously classified documents have classification markings on them, it shows they used to be classified. It’s petty bureaucracy at its finest, government simpletons not following a president’s orders to have them marked ‘declassified.’ The president has unilateral authority to declassify documents — anything in government. He exercised it here in full,” Patel explained.
This might hold water IF every politician who has been accused of anything was rigorously investigated and held accountable. But it never ever happens because the system is broken. The machine is too large and powerful and money and power corrupt. What's happening here is a bunch of powerful people with judges and DAs in their pockets, are going after the one guy not in that club. Is Trump a Saint? Naw. But I can see with my two eyes that these people absolutely hate him so he must have done something right.
Agreed. And he is hiding something of great importance that they need to find and it's why he isn't dead yet. He's got one helluva dead man's switch.
I noticed meager Mike Pence chimed in today defending his former boss and demanding an explanation from Merrick Garland. Mike, Mike, Mike just forget about it, your CPAC vote is still .03%. Is he not able to read the room, does he not realize is has absolutely no future in politics. He should just find himself a job at a hardware store in Indiana and enjoy the rest of his meager life.
Nobody knows how this turns out, but I had a thought: What if the National Archives knew there were materials improperly taken by Trump that belong to 'we the people', and all they want is to have them back? They could say, we negotiated for months to no avail, went to the judge, got our stuff, end of story.
Wrongdoing, yes, bad faith by Trump, yes, but no prosecution. It could happen that way. Then Trump only has to worry about the NY State AG, the Georgia criminal investigation, and all the rest of his troubles.
If the FBI is only acting as pickup/delivery service for NARA, then we should see announcements from both of them very shortly telling us its all over.
