ATLANTA — Before the three men convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery were sentenced on Monday on federal hate crime charges, they asked a judge to consider not only the length of the sentences, but also the location, with one lawyer arguing that if her client went straight to Georgia’s dangerous state prison system, he would be subject to “vigilante justice.”
It won’t be long before it happens again where gun owners high on the feeling of power that their gun gives them will hunt someone else down out of a sense of misplaced righteousness.
Odd case especially since it was kind of buried in the legal system until that video went viral.
I get the father/son being sentenced but the guy following in his car really wasn't involved except for videoing it and his video put them all on trial! If he stayed home, they probably would have gotten away with it.
All three of them are going to have a very tough time in prison.

Maybe if the guns weren’t so easy to get or we had a better safety net or work that paid a livable wage (or gasp) all 3 there would be fewer robberies.
It is excessive because they are trying to send a message here.
Of course it is terrible what happened to that kid and I think we can partly blame the notion that white guys are still hunting black guys for sport. They stopped him to question him and then what were they going to do? The left would have us think they they would have beaten him, dragged him behind the truck to a tree to lynch him. I think most of us will always wonder why Arbery attacked the guy closest to him and tried to get his gun?
I know if I was stopped by guys with guns I would answer there questions, welcome them calling the Police and I would sit there and wait for them to come.
Those 3 guys had no intention of gunning down a Black man that day but he decided to lunge and fight.
Arbery is at least half way responsible for his own death.
Sadly if the characters were reversed and it was a white guy that had been stopped by 3 armed black guys to be questioned about some criminal activity in the neighborhood and it turned deadly would the media have been all over that story? I really doubt it.
As others have mentioned, Why don't we see such zealous prosecution and long prison sentences when black guys murder white or Asian people?
